Subject: Story a bit messed up?

Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts, absolutely.

the prophets either dont know that Halo is a weapon or they do and dont care. The Arbiter finds out that Halo is a weapon when he meets Grvemind and Pennant Tangnet. The elites side with the Arbiter and the grunts always follow the elites so I think it is safe to say that in Halo 3 the humans and the elites and grunts are allies.

Don't forget about the Hunters. They follow the Elites, too. If you don't get what i mean, play the second to last Elite campaign level. You will see you are not only fighting with Grunts and Elites, but with Hunters too. I donno about the last level, but you might be fighting with them, too.

when did the elites find out about the true purpose of halo? I remember that because the brutes are selected to take over the elites' positions with the prophets, the fight starts over that. The second last cutscene then explains that the arbitor finds out the true purpose through guilty spark, and after the death of tartarus we are left with truth heading to earth, and a covenant civil war.

This is where I am confused.

If you remember, at the end of Halo 2, Master Chief comes back to Earth in the Forerunner ship that contains the Prophet of Truth. The commander of the Human fleet (I forgot his name lol) speaks to the Chief, about what he is doing, finishing the fight, yayra, woohoo, go Humans. BUT: In the background of the Forerunner ship, the battle in space is still commencing. So there is no way that the Covenant took over Earth while the Chief was gone, because if they did, there would be no space battle still raging on.

So I ask: when did the Covenant invade? The Elites obviously know that the rings are going to kill them, and that the Chief isn't exactly the "Demon" they thought he was, so don't you think that the Elites would have called off the attack before the invading commenced? I mean, people watch the trailer, see that New Mombasa has been destroyed, but people jump to conclusions too fast before thinking. If you recall on the fourth level (or third, depending if you count the cutscene in the beginning), Metropolis, at the end, the Covenant cruiser jumped into Slipspace inside the city, and it shows the explosion demolishing New Mombasa. So, the invasion would have had to commence AFTER that, and AFTER the last level, because the space battle is still going on.

This is my conclusion: the Covenant didn't invade Earth. Rumors of the Covenant Civil War reached the ears of the attack force, and since there was no Prophet with the attack force, because Mercy, and Regret are both dead, and Truth is gone, so there is no REAL leader left, except for the Arbiter, who knows the truth about the rings. Who do you think the Elites would follow; the Prophets, who have disappeared and dropped their services to the Brutes, or the Arbiter, who is an Elite, and knows the truth about the rings? So, in conclusion, I do not think that the Covenant invaded and conquered Earth, but they HELPED the Humans by joining forces with them, and trying to stop the Prophet of Truth from presumably activating the rings, starting the "Great Journey", and killing all sentient life in the universe.

Flame away.

the elites were in the first invasion (Outskirts, Metropolis) because they didnt know the truth about the rings. after the last level that was the SECOND invasion force led by Truth. that was the one that took over Earth in the trailer.

its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

Go buy Halo Cliff notes. You need 'em.

If I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening, and good nite.

Covenant invade.
Regret flees(He regrets attacking Earth, very clever)
Chief follows.
Chief is taken by Gravemind.
Arbiter is taken by Gravemind.
Gravemind throws a party with Chief, Regret, Penitent Tangent 2401(7*7*7*7), and Arbiter.
Arbiter learns about Halo's true purpose and power.
Chief tries to get to Truth.
Elites fight Chief, because he is the demon and haven't had Halo explained to them.
Arbiter stops Halo from firing.
Chief ends with a one liner while TRUTH'S invading force, not Regret's, are obliterating Earth.
