Make Bungie.net More Enjoyable: Read & Follow

N.B. - This is a specific post about a feature I'd like to discuss/suggest for Bungie's next game; I am pretty sure it belongs here as the relevant HFCS article states that "additionally, this forum is for discussion about Bungie's potential future projects."

I am assuming that Bungie's next game will follow the tradition of having some sort of cinematic, static, and un-interactive set of cutscenes, which are purposed to the ends of communicating the story, and that also may be skipped by the unforeseen/accidental pressing of a controller button...

When I first played Halo 3, I only cared about the story - I didn't care about the actual gameplay at first, I simply wanted to experience the end of the "the fight". I accidentally hit "A" during a cutscene, and forced myself to restart the level before I continued.

Now, there is certainly a benefit to having the option of skipping cutscenes, because some people simply do not care about the story, and neither may I after having beat the campaign countless times.

However, I do strongly propose the inclusion of a main-menu setting that would "force" cutscenes and disable the functionality of fortuitous cutscene-skipping, for instance, during the first play-through for people who are equally minded as I. It would be deactivated by default, so that it is impossible for the player to be more frustrated by this feature's inclusion than its exclusion.

I am a programmer and I see no reason why this wouldn't be something very easily implemented - I am sure there are global variables stored in the Xbox memory, and the cutscene-skip code could be enclosed with a conditional statement that checks for the "cutscene-lock" feature to be turned off before it proceeds...

This feature, however simple, could prove VERY helpful and important in experiencing properly the story of Bungie's new universe first time through. Does anyone else agree, or perhaps have some improvements/drawbacks that I haven't thought of here?

Thanks in advance.

This was already updated in Halo Reach.

You had to use B and then Y to confirm or something along that two button action to cancel a cut-scene.

I don't see them taking a step backwards.

I love you [b]

Perhaps adding a unlockable egg with cutscenes as collectible and watchable from pause hud will increase cutscene intrest and morale.
And more to put into games!!!!!!!
