Subject: Can we survive this time?

Pioneer and Enthusiast for Halo 3.

*I posted something similar in the Reach forum, (check that out of you'd like.)*

Halo 4 is on it's way, obviously. Halo Reach and several other game titles have severely impacted the community in Halo 3. Nevertheless, Halo 3's community is STRONG, and continues to push right on through despite ANY title that has come and gone. My thoughts question if Halo 3 can stand yet another devastating crash with the new Halo 4. It offers the BR. Is that good enough for you guys? Is that why we play Halo 3? If so, you are still a fan. If you're still playing Halo 3 years after release like a monster; Congrats. You're a fan. Just really think before you decide to give up on Halo 3.

So what about you guys? Do you think Halo 3 will stand strong? Will we be able to still get in games like we can now? Or will it be like Halo 2 in the last days? Your thoughts.

I don't think anyone is going to pick up Halo 4 over Halo 3 because it has a BR in it. Or more to the point, I don't think this community would choose Halo 4 over Halo 3, there are too many differences.

I'll pretty much end up playing what my friends are playing online, but I'll always still LAN for Halo 3. Halo 3 on LAN is the most fun game I have ever played (IMO).

Halo 3 will always be the best Halo game.

Halo 4 will be the 2nd newest cod game, not Halo.

I DO have time to bleed...i just dont want to.

halo 3 will live on no matter what, i mean look at halo 1 and halo 2 pc, loads of people still play those so i doubt halo 3 will perish in the coming fire, it may suffer losses but it will survive people will always come back to it for nostalsia.

Black Ops 2 I run two accounts warmup only at 1.97kdr...real is at 3.77. i'm in master division 4 league play. pm 4 clan inv...must have 2.5 kdr or better

I will still play halo 3 because halo 4 has hitscan. I prefer Halo 3 maps to the rest of the series (not even close) so I will come back just for that.

I do hope 343i updates Halo 3 before Halo 4 comes out. They should remove Blackout from ever appearing in matchmaking.

Why would you want to see anything else removed from h3? They already took our double xp and how many playlists. If anything they should give us loyal fans some of the pieces back. Its not like this 5yr old game with 20,000 strong doesn't deserve it

"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

I think Halo 3 will survive because the multiplayer in Halo 4 looks like Call of Reach 2.0. Maybe it won't be, but if so, the community that's playing H3 now will have no reason to leave.

Your right, I just payed attention to what they said was going to be in it and how they treated Reach and came to the obvious conclusion that it is going to be terrible. People who think it is going to be good are stupid, just watch when Neighbor was playing it.

LOLWUT?

I've got over a dozen friends on the RoosterTeeth forums who actually played Halo 4 at RTX and SDCC and every one of them said that it feels like Halo 3's gameplay with elements of Reach in it. I'll take their word over yours anyday since all you've got are baseless assumptions.

global warming isn't proven and won't be - it's more of a political play for funding for "research"

More elements of CoD than Reach. Which makes it worse. You and your friends just want another easy game so you can think you're good, well you're not.

Can't do worse than Halo 2. That game only had a couple hundred people playing it after Halo 3 and until they started giving out free live and announced it was going offline.

Tons of cod elements, but worse than that they are taking more Shadowrun elements. None of the new features in Halo 4 are original. All are ripped from one of those two games. Only with forge do we really see something original with magnetism, ect. But the objects are still grey and I don't know about you but I had zero motivation to use forge due to the grey dullness and terribad gameplay connected with Reach.

Halo 4 = Shadowrun + Cod + lolReach = Failure

Hardlight shield will have the same problem as Armor Lock. Jetpack is coming back (you can see in Spartan Ops trailer that it's still there). And watch as campers with PV dominate. It's all going to happen. If you get your hopes up, get ready to be disappointed.

I'd say the Halo 3 community will survive, albeit in a dwindling fashion. Haven't read to many details about Halo 4 to be honest, but if they include unlockables like those in Reach where one have to farm achievements in earlier games I guess they'll give both new and old players alike some incentives to go back and play these.

However, I think the "threats" (or whatever one might call them) to the continued existence of a stable player base for Halo 3 goes beyond new sequels in this franchise. The Xbox 360 is, to put it mildly, saturated with shooters of all kinds. The mere fact that people (although not that many) are still playing games like GoW 1, Halo 3 and CoD: MW despite that dozens of shooters have been released since stands IMHO as a testament of sorts to these games enduring capacity to draw interest. These games were released relatively early in this console cycle's life span yet still get their fair share of attention.

That said, I still think that sooner or later these games will be "put to rest" for one reason or another. If not for absence of players then perhaps for reasons of a technical nature. They might close down the servers. And then there's the issue (and I know I'm looking far ahead with this one) of backwards compatibility on the upcoming Xbox. Anyone who's played an old xbox game on the 360 is probably aware of the uneven emulation performance.

Well, that's my 10 cents I guess. Thoughts?

Oh well, I have seen the OP deranking on various accounts, if it doesn't survive, he is part of the problem.

50s in: Slayer, Doubles, Lone Wolves, Objective, Ranked BTB, Swat, Snipers.

The Mojave area will sustain significant nuclear fallout. We will not survive.

Does my honesty shock you? I bet you haven't seen me, as I have just been real honest about deranking.
