the only problem i have with mine is that it's unstable,[very shakey],so you'd need a tripod for it.

Just drink a beer and everything will be ok

Generally:
If I see a poll that's interesting, I'll vote and comment
If I see a poll that's not interesting, I'll drop in to see the results and maybe vote
If I see a non-poll that's interesting, I'll comment
If I see a non-poll that's not interesting, I'll probably ignore it.

Of course, this depends on the surrounding activity.

I feel they do. Threads with polls will almost always generate less discussion due to the fact that anybody can answer the question with a single anonymous vote, won't need to post, and as a result, won't lead to people replying to an answer which has interested them.

Polls are an eyesore.

Foman banned me for asking people to vote. DO NOT STOP VOTING!

Why is there no poll attached to this topic?!

You should have added a poll to this thread.

Lol! Yeah, I don't think they ruin the thread, I think it depend of what the thread is about.

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

I will sometimes look for poll threads, vote, and leave because I'm not that interested. If the same thread lacked a poll I might have posted a full responce and reason or I might have not potsted anything at all.

To keep track of everyone's opinions you would probably want to use a poll though.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”

A bad poll will ruin a thread.

By a "bad poll" I simply mean a poll that has pointless options. For example, if this thread were to have had a poll, the options would have been "Yes" and "No". You asked if we agree or disagree, and this would have been made clear had the poll been included.

Sure, one could also read though the currently four pages and see what the general consensus is, however a poll would deliver this information up front and in a much easier to decipher manner.

In short, I like polls and I think that they can be beneficial to threads. However, when a user tries to be humorous by adding nonsensical poll options (or honestly more than four choices), I feel it can harm the thread and impact discussion.

Also kittens.

Nobody takes polls seriously, they always vote for the ridiculous answers like "I like pie!" instead of something on-topic. How to fix? Lock poll threads that have stupid options.

Agreed, the poll if filled with crap should be enough to condemn the thread.

What a hipster.

"Guns don't kill people, nuhhuh, I kill people, with guns."

If you swapped out "guns" and "people", with "polls" and "threads", this sentence might make somewhat sense on the topic.

Note: I have a masters degree in Gibberish.

I like polls, they give a easy to read statistic, and they also deter people from posting one word responses that don't really contribute to the thread.

They can kill a thread, but if its a good topic a poll will only enhance the discussion.
