Sometimes when your playing multiplayer and you and someone else kill each other at the same time for one of the people who got killed it will say ".... has been killed by the guardians"

who the hell are the "guardians"?

It's probably some dude who named themselves 'the guardians'

Its due to the fact that 2 players have killed each other at the same exact time, and the computer cant figure out who to give the kill to, then it says (insert name here) was killed by the guardians.

I can't get this to happen, I've been trying for like 10 minutes. Special weapon you have to use or something? Special game type?

I noticed this a LONNNNG time ago but i just now got onto the forums
i think it has some backround to it. i don't think they'll just put "the guardians" for nothing

you can repeat this by having 2 players can either hit each other at the same time with a melee (set life to 50% and no sheilds so it's one hit kill) "the guardians" will kill one of you.

the guardians is how the game handles a person being killed by a body, for example when meleeing when when person 1 melees person 2 and kills him just as person 2 was about melee and person 2s dying body melees even though its dead

Gnomefriend has it right. Me and my friends are able to do it consistently. It happens when one person who is almost dead and another person (it doesn’t matter how much health he has) melee each other at the same time. The one with not much health left will die and it will say he was killed by the other person. The other one, who could even have full health, will also die and it will say he was killed by the gaurdians. The respawn count will be as if he had commited suicide. I don’t know why Bungie put it in there, but it is thing like this that make them so freakin awsome.

bah

I put up a lot of theories on what happens to trigger this. The almighty Archronos himself then set me straight, you get the message when the game can't figure out what killed you. This is easiest to trigger by having a player who should be dead get in one last melee just before the game registers him as dead. It requires precise timing to pull off, and I've only gotten it to work with a melee.

There's a great chapter set up to help with any questions newer people might have called Newb World (I didn't pick the name). The databases there are set up specifically with the newer member in mind, and the whole chapter is open to everyone without the need to join. It's a great place to find info on why the game does stuff.

Something never change. It does not matter when you come to this forum...the same questions are always asked a million times. And yes for those of yuo who said "the guardians" are when the game cannot figure out what killed the player. There is no real special meaning behind it. But it does make n00bs go nuts!

bah

Hey, there are plenty of people who have been playing Halo for years who have never seen the message about the Guardians. They aren't noobs to Halo, just noobs to Bungie.net.

I'm not sure if this has ever been mentioned before in the history of the question, but it was a way for Bungie to fix a glitch (as was said before), but also a way to not allow the player killed first not to get a cheap point by getting lucky.

Why the longer spawn time, I'll never know. It sure is a pain in the ass while playing defense in One flag CTF though.

WHOA! n00b.....me....NNNNOOOO
i've been playing Halo since the day it came out and i've won some local tournys so i'm ffffaaaarrrr from being a n00b so don't give me that crap about me being a n00b
i just don't think bungie would put "the guardians" for nothing, but i haven't read the books yet(which i'm planning to) and i thought it had something to do with the backround story from there
