man you guys are bad at understanding things. here read this... read all of it to understand...

The Ninth Age occurred between the Earth years 2525 and the current year, 2552. Thus far, this age has been tumultuous for the Covenant, and has featured a war with humanity, the unleashings of the Flood, and a civil war simultaneously.

When the Covenant first came into contact with Humanity at the planet Harvest, they waged a twenty-five year religious war that destroyed almost every world colonized by humans. Even the battles won by the UNSC's advanced Spartan soldiers were unable to slow the advance of the Covenant. Earth remained undiscovered in part because of the Cole Protocol, a standing order by UNSC Admiral Cole, that directed retreating UNSC ships not chart a direct course back to Earth in case the Covenant were able to follow. In fact, ships were required to self-destruct rather than lead the Covenant to Earth. This decision was apparently successful and the Covenant did not discover Earth until the events of Halo: First Strike.

When the Prophet of Regret and his fleet arrive at Earth, they appear to be surprised that humanity is on Earth. This gives us a clue that, perhaps, they came to Earth for other reasons.

The Human War, combined with the subsequent and simultaneous Civil War, the threat of heretic forces, and the Master Chief's infiltration of and the Flood invasion of High Charity splintered the Covenant into heretic/separtist/etc. and loyalist forces. The High Prophets of Mercy and Regret, Tartarus, and many of the Councilors have been killed, leaving the Covenant in a precarious position.

The Prophet of Regret most likely went to Earth in search of the Ark, a structure built by the Foreruners to activate installations 01-07. The Ark is thought to be located near New Mombasa, as observed in the Halo 3 trailer.

Most of the hardcore fans would probably know this, but still, its nice to see a nice list of facts all in one place, and in a good order.
This would be a good oppertunity to add more to the thread with other Halo FACTS (not speculation).

Keep this bumped for a day or two, and perhaps some of the slightly insane theories will go away..

Alternitively, Wikipedia has some good, well constructed articles on most aspects of the Halo Unverse. Ironic that the online encyclopedia's best articles are game related lol.

The Ark, in the Halo video game series, is a mysterious Forerunner facility from which all the Halos can be controlled. If the naming of the game's enemy, The Flood, is in reference to the biblical Flood, then the Ark may be a place that is safe from the Halos' firing when the Halos are activated. The name is also possibly a reference to the Ark of the Covenant. In the end of Halo 2, Delta Halo is armed and then unexpectedly shut down, causing it to send a signal to all other Halos in the galaxy, putting them on standby mode. 343 Guilty Spark informs the Arbiter, Miranda Keyes and Sergeant Johnson that the Halos can all be remotely activated from "The Ark".

Yeah you are almost right about that except that it is not 343 Guilty Spark. He was destroyed. It is 2401 Penitent Tangent. Btw it is off topic but anyway: seven halos. 343 times 7. It is 2401. Coincidence? I don't think so!

I am a Floodian

Regret went to Earth because he realized this and has gone to destroy humanity and at last "complete the great journey"

By the way...change your f.u.c.k.i.n.g. topic title...your post has nothing to do with explaining what the ark is.

You serious?!? They are the peak of the advanced forerunner technology and you don't think they can change colour?!? And if the blue one indeed is 343 Guilty Spark tell me how he survived the gigantic explosion in Halo 1 when master chief blew the ring to bits. I'm waiting anxiously...

You never played halo 1 did you?

Don't call yourself an expert(or others who are correct, noobs) until you play halo 1, and at the end, see that INDEED, GUILTY SPARK does escape. Yes the blue one. No they don't change colors.

We have way too many halo2-only fans who open their mouths without thinking.

you do realize that 343 can fly and doesn't need to breath in space.

In that halo 2 "conversations from the universe" book in the special edition case it had a speech with 343 talking about how he's in space alone after the halo was blown up.

Sorry to dissapoint you mate, but 343 GS survived the explosion and was captured by Tartarus. Sure 2401 PT can change color, but he sure as hell can't get the same -blam!- voice actor to do his voice. http://imdb.com/title/tt0412799/

Okay, I am a Halo fan but unfortunately I know far less than most of you here.

I therefore have a question that I hope one of you can clarify. If what "kingkrazy" said holds true (parralel to the events of Halo2) then why was most of the third Halo novel (First Strike) based around the Spartans trying to disable a huge Covenant force headed towards Earth to wage war?

I mean, why would there be orders in the Covenant communications to converge all their forces to Earth if Regret had truly just gone there to look for something and had only found the humans there by surprise?

I am sure this has been discussed before and may be a little off-topic, for which I appologize. I just thought of it while I was reading the posts above.

Thanks!

7 x 7 = 49
7 x 7 x 7 = 343
7 x 7 x 7 x 7 = 2401
7 x 7 x 7 x 7 x 7 = 16807

Just incase some people didn't already knwo the little bungie fetish with the number 7. They try to keep most their numbers in their games multiples of either 3, 7, or 10.

For some reason they just like tossing them in their. (Ex: marathon grenade launcher holds 7 rounds) Plus the length of the pillar of autumn is something that is either 7 to some power or has 7 at the end.

Just seemed like some of the posters on this thread seemed to not know this.
