IIf there is a grey area in FPS games it is Halo. It appeals to people who want to play competitively and people who want to play casually.
The problem is the people who want to play it competitively can beat the people who play it casually, but the people who play it casually are the majority. This is the reason we have Team Hardcore and Team Swat in the online play-list. Bungie is catering to both styles of players. But as Ogre 1 said: “The main thing that prompted me to take competitive gaming seriously was the fact that Zyos won two WCG titles in a row ($20,000 each), and I knew that I could compete, if only I had the time to. My brother and I used to play soccer at a competitive level, but we sort of lost interest in that the more seriously we began to take our gaming careers.” http://mlgpro.com/article.php?potw=13 The rest is history. So, can Halo take competitive gaming to another level? Or will Halo continue to try and walk the fine line between casual and pro? I know which way I lean. What are your two cents?
