Why Bungie, why would you do this?! - Halo Community

I clumped them inside the bottom floor, most looking up the ramp going up.

I have been aware of the protection the loading point gives (and I always go through the level to get the extra hog.) Perhaps the my successful attempts had all had the last 3 marines by the ramp, though I didn't take note of that for some reason.

SG, I've found that the Wraith in CE is just as deadly as the other games. On Easy, you still lose 7 bars of health at full shields. It's just easier to avoid because the AI can't see you through multiple walls.

Yes it is still quite challenging. Noted. Also, it's projectile is much more easier to avoid due to it's arc.

There are certain spots on Two Betrayals where you can never be hit by the mortar:

-near the frozen lake at the area with the 2nd generator
-a rock in the middle of the field at the last great battle, near the Flood spawns

You're as zealous for Reach as I am for CE. I won't be the one to debate. Just reason.

I wouldn't say zealous, but nobody sticks up for Reach, and when someone does, it stirs some people up. That's why I usually put a disclaimer in the post.

As for the BOBs, I think only The Package is the only one that interferes with the path of the mission. He can actually get some shots in if you're just trying to eliminate the enemies Noble is trying to take out. Can't think of any other BOB locations like that.

As for the Legendary easter eggs, Data pads count, but Data pads suck and shouldn't be considered an easter egg because you can hardly tell what they're trying to say.

I see.

There's also the BOB on LNoS. Sometimes he'll be manning the controls and I don't think he disappears like the others.

H2 skulls were much more worthwhile.

Skulls are the only worthwhile legendary easter eggs if you ask me. The others are just one time things, but skulls are forever :D

The Scarab Gun only lasts that level and its at the end of it.(Unless you go out of your way to get the other two.) And its not legendary exclusive (at least I thought it wasn't).

Yeah, its still a blast to use though.

I skipped 'legendary' for some reason. xD

Yeah it can be acquired on any difficulty. On Legendary, the only feasible way is to launch using the hog because getting a Banshee into the tunnel is impossible as it loses interest.

Games I like:,
Half-Minute Hero
MBU
Portal
Halo 3 is the best Halo ever
Maps I like: Turf, Avalanche, Pylon, Sandbox, Breakpoint and many more.

Elites charged at an enemy firing once their shields popped in a last stand.

Reach Elites hide and spam Concussion rifle shots.

Halo: Combat Evolved Elites are easy to manipulate in certain situations

after killing the second pair of hunters in Truth and Reconciliation and proceeding to the 2nd floor, as you know elites respond quick to grenades and do that 4 meter barrel roll so you could trick them to falling to their deaths by rolling of the platform (unless you're playing on legendary, they survive the fall)

too bad frag grenades in the campaign aren't abundant like plasma grenades

as for Halo Reach (legendary)? felt like i was battling Terminators, however i noticed a flaw with Reach Zealots, they aren't prone to jumping alot like Combat Evolved zealots

CE Elites charge once their health has been severely damaged or if they're close to an enemy. If they lose their shield, they try to take cover unless they're close enough to melee. Also keep in mind that Spec Ops Elites never berserk and are the least likely to charge. They hide when their shield is just a little bit damaged. The only CE Elites that are obsessed with maintaining a close distance are Stealth Elites and Zealots.

Reach Elites charge if they get pissed off. They rarely use cover. This post explains them well.

Yep. Best instance of it are on Two Betrayals. People have used that method to deal with the bridge Zealot but I know better. Why kill him when there's a whole Flood infested room right around the corner? It's better to employ his sword skills.

After using Bandanna, I can't help but think that the lack of frags might be a good thing.

Exactly! They're like robots. Mindless robots.

Yes the inability to leap melee is a flaw. You'd think Bungie would have learned from H2 Brutes.

Here's another fail from the supposedly best of the Elites.

Lastly, here's a revision of one of my videos from my deleted channel: 4 Elites at the end of PoA on Legendary with 10 skulls on, defeated

This time, I've included the last Elite's demise.

Basic summary:
1st Elite: with a little luck, he'll be the first to enter the room, after which he's easy prey thanks to Hologram keeping him still

2nd Elite: easily defeated with the barrel method

3rd Elite (Field Marshal): a total pushover. People overestimate him. He's not crazy enough to fire up close and is as easily susceptible to Hologram as any other Elite. He only pulls out sword when he's stuck by a grenade or loses his shield so I can just walk up to him just like that

4th Elite: the hardest of the bunch, because he's the only one that maintains his distance instead of charging. Too bad by now, he can easily be skipped and he lacks the motivation to avenge his fallen comrades. The barrel method works on him.
This is the best the Prophets can send at me?! Pitiful.

My last words on Lone Wolf were simply this: "Damn you Emile!"

i take back my opinion on Reach elites being compared to terminators.

hunters in Reach are terminators. hunters!

unless there's a strategy for them i don't know of?

the last hunters in Reach who fought alongside the squad of champion skirmishers was the hardest part for me in Reach

If you save a rocket launcher with more than 1 clip and save just 1 trooper, you can easily spam the Hunters with rockets.

This trick is the easiest way to beat them. It doesn't always work for every weapon but with the rocket launcher, I have found it to be reliable. I killed 4 Legendary Hunters on New Alexandria with the rocket launcher.

Edit:

then again, you don't have to save a marine. If you crouch jump through the window, there should be some marines nearby.

neat! though it's annoying when a marine closes the distance with the enemy when you don't want him to

Afaik, the ones that spawn in the boiler room don't go any further, which means all you have to do is make a simple detour back and forth. Reach Hunters don't go crazy about the death of their partner so they're easy picking. I'm not sure about the marines that spawn in the 2nd boiler room though.

Keyes runs ahead of you or he blows himself up with the needler?

"We live in a special time; the only time where we can observationally verify that we live in a very special time" - Lawrence Krauss.

I was a finalist :P

There's really only one way for the Covenant to come at you (or is this the part where you've retaking the control room which housed the three invisible elites?)

If it's the latter, then throw grenades at the nearest door he [Keyes] is closest to. Grunts will jump to avoid the blast radius, but it'll be ineffective due to how narrow the corridors are. It's then just a matter of killing the Grunts which pour out the other door (which will give a much higher success rate because Keyes is behind you and no enemies will spawn from behind.)

not to worry, eventually pulled through after all those deaths. my next tough spot is on Assault On The Control Room, i'm on the second bridge surrounded by a pack of sleeping grunts, the next wave is 3 jackals, the 3rd wave is 3 red elites wielding needlers + grunts on the opposite bridge offer them support.

i'm armed with a pistol and rocket launcher

how would you get through this guys?

I can't remember if there are banshees circling above or not. If there are, use the Rocket Launcher to dispatch them (at most, IIRC, there are two). You could then swap the RL for a Plasma Pistol and "Noob Combo" the remaining Elites and Jackals from afar, or perhaps leading the enemies behind any cover you can find one or two at a time, despatching and repeating until all on the bridge are dead (forget about the other side unless you're confident with using any remaining ammo you have to snipe them down).

The go back and re-swap the Plasma Pistol for the RL to despatch the charging Zealot which comes at you with a sword a little bit before you make it to the door opposite to where you entered the bridge.

IIRC,

Stealth as many Grunts as possible then jump to the other bridge (get on the glass) and stealth the other Grunts. Headshot Jackals. Elites are easy pickings.

@Zealot Tony Wasn't 'On the Pale Horse' playing during the part?
