The only next big game expo, and the last, is PAX 2012 located in no other place other than Seattle Washington, only a few miles away from Bungie.

Now location really doesn't matter to announcement of the game, but I think it could help releasing it at a conference where you live. And people always refer to PAX as the expo where the fans can connect with the developers, and I think that a place like Bungie would release it at a place where the fans can play like PAX rather than a place than the media can play, like E3.
Now I'm about to throw out a crazy idea, so bare with me.

What if the One of Seven winners go to the convention for free with Bungie, where the game will be official announced with an accompanying teaser. Then, the winners travel back to the studio to play a working demo of the game?

It makes sense to me. The convention takes place in Seattle. It's a good place to make a game reveal. And the Seven don't have far to travel between the convention centre and the studio.

Nah, they probably wont. Bungie had a bad experience with Halo 2, so I think they want to make very damn well sure this game turns out how they want it; Clean, sharp, fun, and the best it can be.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

Personally, I hope not. I don't want to learn about my Destiny second hand. I want to visit this site one day and have everything that can be revealed displayed in all it's glory.

That's actually doesn't sound ridiculous, sounds logical. But someone would have to double check with the One of Seven's to see when they are heading out, if they could say.

But this year will be my 5th year going to PAX, and I've only seen one company show up with a trailer, and the was Bioshock 2. I think if they show up, they would bring a playable demo to PAX. They could just show a trailer before PAX and just do a panel, but not likely.

Now they could go to ways with the demo. Most people have demos on the convention floor and they have everyone come and play it, but I have seen companies have a room where people can spectate a developer playing the game.

Wait a second. Most games have a year of hype buid up, but many dissapoint in some way or another. They sell a lot and then the sales drop off harshly.

What if Bungie is spending all this time making their game so good that they plan on starting their ad campaign late so they can finish advertising sometime after their game comes out?

I'm sure Bungie will be at PAX in one way or another but there will be no "next IP" announcement. They have already stated that they are not planning to make any major announcements in 2012.

What if Bungie is going to break their normal pattern and step out of the darkness a little closer to the release date for their game?

Very. I'm more than certain there will be quite a few Bungie peeps there, but I doubt they will make any "Bungie" appearance.

I highly doubt they will announce their new game at PAX but I'm sure some of them will be there.

My name is Mark Mezzetta and I was a beta tester for Bungie's game Oni and Take Two's game Myth 3: The Wolf Age.

There is a good chance you may see some Bungie employees roaming the show. One thing is for sure though, according to Bungie, their next game will be announced next year. Sorry.

Key

LOL @ "running out of time" and imposing some sort of ticking clock situation onto Bungie. While I too don't subscribe to the ideology which is set on the fact that we won't hear anything til E3 2013, and I do think we'll get some scrap of recognition before the year is out, I also very much trust Bungie to be able to handle themselves. This isn't their first rodeo, nor are they inexperienced in the art of public relations and marketing.

They're not running out of options nor are they needing to grasp for any sort of foothold upon their inexorable climb to Release Day.

They've been working on this game for a long time. Though my source is both anonymous and third party (being that they're a normal user and I've forgotten their pseudonym), I'm pretty sure Jason Jones didn't work on Reach. So what do you think he was working on?

This whole thing will have been planned out, so it's best if we leave Bungie to their own devices and let what will be, be.

This whole thing is very annoying to type on a phone and getting needlessly long so I'll end my post now.

  • 07.26.2012 11:51 AM PDT

I am expecting them to send a beta copy of the game to all of the Mythix houses by carrier pigeon.

If they do announce it at PAX that would be sweet. I bet the website will get the new hawthness when Destiny is officially announced.

Wouldn't that be just fine.
