You are the rock solid core, and you are very important to us. You are the first people we speak to, and the first people to whom we listen.
Not at all what the OP was talking about...

OT: I would hazard a guess that the overwhelming majority of people who buy Bungie's games never visit or have heard of Bungie.net, especially now that they're not making Halo anymore.
Actually he was just telling the OP that while we may not bring in all that much for Bungie in terms of money, we are still very important to the company in so many more ways.
And that's cool, it just would've been cool if he had any sort of metrics about overall sales compared to site population, etc.

I'd imagine certain exact sales figures are classified. Other than immediate revenue, I was wondering how big of an impact do the members of the community play when compared to none forum members (everyone else).

aww you made feel all warm and fuzzy inside ;P

OT: Even though we may be but a few, we are the vanguard of BUNGiE, we uphold Tru7h, Carnage, and BUNGiE like no other.

Whereas people fight on a kindergarten level, we don't roll on any level except To7al Carnage, no other levels exist but TC. We punch all switches, we know to never shoot where we could use grenades, we know never to set our caps lock key as our run key, and we don't EVER leave a single BoB alive.

We vid it with style baby, Turn on the maximum carnage!

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

No, all we are is dust in the wind. OBEY KANSAS! AGREE WITH THEM!

OT: I'd imagine Bungie's active posting community is a very small percentage of over all game sales. Its a safe thing to assume the vast majority of people who bought Halo never even considered going to Bungie's site to discuss it.

Marathon and Myth though...I tend to think active community members (ancillary to Bungie.net itself) probably did make a significant chunk of the game sales during their heyday. Rampancy.net and Bungie.org, among many of the other fansites.

True. But how big of an impact do we actually make?
"We are the 1%"...or something close to it probably

From the death of worlds comes great power. My hands shall be hate my eyes revenge... And those who are prideful and refuse to bow down, shall be laid low and made unto dust!

Randoms for sure.

The Great Pretenders choice of Internet tabs and themes.

Sadly, we are not the majority. Definitely more important than the scrubs of the rest of the population though.

ISU Cyclones!

We aren't the majority. But we can be a driving force behind the hype of the game. Marketing can throw all the money they want at a project but things can always spread as murmurs around the internet even better no matter the marketing budget.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

Can't be anything significant in my opinion. Depends on how popular the game is really.

Miranda: Any idea what it means?
Sgt. Johnson: Dear Humanity... we regret being alien bastards. We regret coming to Earth. And we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!
Marines: Hoo-rah!

How many account are there on b.net anyway? I know there have been threads on this, and there is the census list...but none of them really serve as a # for how many active accounts there are. But...

I don't think millions and millions of people use Bungie.net.

According to Bungie.me (which hasn't been updated for a while) it says that there are:

Member: 4904
Heroic: 582
Legendary: 702
Mythic: 328
Ninja: 32
Employee: 37
__________________

total: 6586

Now, there are most likely a LOT more members than that, this is just a very rough estimate, but it gets you thinking even more.

Just want to point out that you have to register for Bungie.me specifically to show up in those stats. That site is the 1% of the 1% who care about their post activity/involvement. In response to somebody else, there are more Legendary accounts than Heroic on there because Legendary people are more likely to want to see all those pretty Bungie.me achievements.
