The chiefs armor looks pretty much the same.
the only difference being his gloves. some people
like to get new gloves sometimes, maybe the old ones didn't fit ?

The "color change of his armor is a combination
light reflection from the new engine and
sand stains.

Its probably still Mark VI. It might just have a few augmentations to it so it would be stronger.

Plus with the state of how the Earth is when MC came back. How did he find time to go to a place to change his armour and stuff.

Also i think the color change is because that the armour HAS been used that long and is now showing signs of wear because they arn't made to last that long.
