i dont think puting it back would be good since the Spartans are equiped with a biochimic liquid that slowly regenerates the tissues & other dammages, so you dont really need a medic between shield recharges... thats my theory.

Then how does he -BLAM- die????

The no health bar added balance to online gameplay. No wasted efforts in killing someone if they backpeddled over the medpack and no easy kill for when you're runnin around on half health.

Health packs are a way of the past. They came as a result of health bars. Health bars came about because game makers had no better way to represent the health of a character because of their limited graphics power in the past. Right now, game makers have the capability to represent the health of the character by means of causing their mobility and appearence to change as they take damage. This elimates the need for a health bar system, and therefore, the need to constantly take health packs to up the bar. If game makers can't break out of the box and leave behind health bars, I feel they are not puting forth their best effort to make a next generation game.

Also, health bars make combat unrealistic. In having health bars, players know exactly how much abuse they can take before their deaths. This gives a digital feeling to the game play, where the combat experience always ends in about the same amount of time in the same fashion. We need to remember that in reality, combat is analog, not digital. It is not exact. It is not run by numbers. I realize our health must be calculated by the Xbox. But I feel that knowing exactly what our current health status is takes away much of the fun and suspense of playing the game.

That was a little less of an issue in Halo 1 because in general it seemed the weapons were significantly more powerful. Imagining some of those same scenarios in Halo 2 makes me shudder. I don't want to live in a world where I can get up close to an enemy, empty 6 or 7 shotgun shells into them, and have to do it all over again because they conveniently stepped over a newly-spawned health pack. Blech.

Health packs made it hard, but I like hard. I think it makes the game unrealilistic

Unrealilistic, huh? You mean that advanved parasitic life forms, a multi-species alien race, spacetime bending, and HALOS exist?

THIS WHOLE GAME IS UNREALIlLISTIC--IT TAKES PLACE IN THE YEAR 2552!!! It's the future, man!!! Halo is the furthest thing from "realistic" as i can think of. Play Ghost Recon 2 and then play halo, and you will get my point.

I think he means unrealistic within the context of the Halo universe.

Funny that you don't think of the energy shield the same way. Not that a Spartan wouldn't have sophisticated bio-monitoring apparatus anyhow. Food for thought huh.

Well frankly if they're going to make it so that the shotgun is that weak I won't be playing it long anyway.
Not that you'd have to do it all over again - a health pack doesn't bring back the energy shield.

Right, so you want a battle rifle, a carbine, a beam rifle, the arbiter, wraith tanks, the energy sword, you've got Halo 2? Don't be ridiculous.

True about the shield, and true about the shotgun. It'd still be a pain, IMO.

I don't see why not. The health packs should return.

Instant-healing medical treatment does exist in the Halo universe, like the Biofoam that patches up wounds instantly.

double post

anyway, ask yourself this, why did they remove the health bar and the medkits? It works well without them in Halo 2, so why put something back in when it was removed? Anything that works on the other hand, will be used again. The BR, Carbine, beam rifle, arbiter, wraiths and the energy swords, and several other things that works well will most certainly make a return. Now use those small grey ones. Mine are busy at the moment
