It is confirmed that the Flood won't be in Halo 4, but I think it would make sense if they appeared in 5 and 6 since they are a crucial part in Halo history and they are the reason why the Forunners built Halo and the shield worlds in the first place. What do you guys think?

Anyone?

  • 07.26.2012 1:49 PM PDT

Probably. As you said, they play a big role in the Forerunner story, which is being explored in this trilogy.

I'd also like to see them with Halo 4 graphics, provided that they don't make them look stupid (like the grunts and Elites, I preferred their Reach versions).

We are all going to get banned aren't we?

we won't be fighting them in halo 4 but they never said they wouldn't be in it.

Do not waste your tears, I was not born to watch the world grow dim. Life is not measured in years, but by the deeds of men.

We should know better, because we are better.

Of course they should. Timeless set the date for their resurgence at roughly contemporary Halo times. If not the Flood, then the Precursors probably will appear.

Yes, I AM just that awesome.

I think we will. Was it ever cleared up if ALL the Flood left Installation 05 with High Charity?

The whole reason behind the existence of the Halos themselves, the absence of the Forerunners and therefore the impact on all species in the Halo universe is all due to the Flood. I would think it strange to have a game named after a weapon designed to exterminate the Flood and have it not feature the Flood.

The Flood has to return at some point for good or bad. Personally I really liked them so I look forward to fighting them some time in the future.

Half of what I say is true. The other half are also lies.

As long as it isn't Mona Lisa flood fighting. Just watched that and if it was that hard to kill them in the game I would crap myself every mission with them in it.

Yes, they are the reason why the Halos were created, they are the unstoppable force. Plus Frankie said the Flood won't be on Halo 4, which implies they will be on the next Halo installments.

Just no more H3 Flood. They are pathetic. The only reason I would have died is because of their high damage and Flood with shields lasting longer (damage sponges).

CE was when they were at their prime.

H2 was when they used their surroundings (though most of this was scripted). They were pretty good at vehicle combat.

Yeah they were. You could easily headshot and bash them which made em not as scary as CE and H2 Flood. H2 Flood scared me the most.

Yep. I wish Juggernauts were in H2.

It'd be great if combat forms were more like their host. Flood have so much potential but their AI was a severe downgrade in H3.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

Following up on a theory* that the Precursors actually were different to one another, having different physiological attributes, etc, it would be interesting to see if the Flood only was the fabrication of one (or a few) of them, and that another Precursors might utilize some other horrific entity.

* the theory comes from the discussion between Bornstellar and the Primordial near the end of Primordium.

It certainly is. Yeah they should have the tentacles and a new take on where their sensory antennae typically grows (343 are being controversial with changes to Covies but in the long run, it may turn out to be a welcome change. If that's the case, Flood may receive the same treatment).

Anyways, half flooded Elites are the only AI in Halo games that switch weapons when they feel threatened (to induce this, you have to throw a grenade at their feet to get them to jump and switch or put in a lot of bullets into their shield until they decide to switch when realizing their current weapon isn't working).

In other words, they seem to intelligently switch weapons. Sadly, if they have more than 2 weapons, they cannot switch to the third or fourth weapons.

As you can see by comparing this to the below examples, this is perhaps the greatest advancement in Halo AI. It seems H3 Flood had this the whole time but due to the fact they never spawn with a secondary, this was long hidden.

H2: AI don't actually switch weapons. They drop their current one for a new one
-Ultra Elites and Councilors when berserking
-Jackal snipers and fuel rod/rocket launcher Grunts when panicking

H3:
-any Elite when stuck with a sticky grenade (kinda lame since they always die unless it is an enemy grenade. Mythic is definitely necessary for them to survive your grenade. Sticking them on their feet seems to do the least damage)
-Arbiter when his shield is down (foolish because he's vulnerable to headshots)

Reach:
-AI can spawn with more than 1 weapon but they cannot switch to their secondary
-Zealot on TotS (scripted and he actually loses his concussion rifle)
-Field Marshal when his shield is down (though there seems to be some advancement IIRC)
