Subject: Dr.Hasleys crystal...Halo's Weapon?

Ok i was sitting today in maths boring myselfto death when suddenly something clicked. I think i figured out what the halos do to destroy life.
First of a couple of Facts from the books/game!

*On Reach Dr.Hasley discovered a Crystal that has time, space and gravity bending properties. When submitted to slipspace in emits a radiation so powerful that lethal exposure is expected in uder 72 hours. Also creates a Slipspace bubble.

*When destroyed the crystal emitted a Amazing amount of radiation that instantly killed Corporal Locklear.

*The beam emitters from Halo 1 on the 2nd Halo....nobody (save for Bungie) knows what they're for

*Sometimes scientists notice asteroids in Slipspace. They have no idea how they got there.

-------------------------------------
Ok now for my wild rant:
I think that the Pulse emitters in Halo 1 send up splinters of this type of crystal. They enter Slipspace and Stay stationary in the middle of the ring. Upon demand 3 pulse generators Power up and emit a burst that also travels INTO the slipspace bubble where the crsytals are. This effectivly destroys them and a Radiation surge is built up (yellow glow...end of Halo 2) when it is powerful enough it literally Rips a hole between space and Slipspace. The Radiation Bursts out and some objects may fall into Slipspace(asteroids?)
The radiation Kills pretty much anything with sufficient biomass.

THe blue beam fired was a failsafe. It neutralised the radiation and caused the bubble to collapse into itself (implosion seen at the end of h2...the blue one)
This might be a clue as to the Ark being a safe hideout. The blue beam firing from the structure in the trailer may have a similar neutralising effect on the radiation shockwave and protect the earth.

This is just a idea and i dont expect it to be foolproof or even correct. But i thought hey, i tried. It may seem a little far fetched but then again. Ive seen far wilder ideas on these forums.

Post ur thoughts

(ps. i apologise for the dreadful spelling and grammar)
