The fact that in halo games there are no spartans as of yet (maybe never), is because in the books they died! people who say 3 are alive i cant remeber but i think they all died. one form plasma nade or elite plasma rifle. one left on a planet which gets glassed. one left on covenant ship and dies. one floats into space and dies. thats 4 dead. MC only one left.
You're wrong... you're just plain wrong. Don't knock down what people say until you have some actual evidence. At the end of First Strike there are 5 Spartans alive (John, Linda, Kelly, Fred and Will), although Kelly is off somewhere in a ONI stealth craft with Dr. Halsey (en-route to the coordinates she found in Ackerson's notes, no doubt). As far as Spartans being in Halo 3 or not being in halo 3, Bungie can do whatever they please with their story. The Halo video-game story, the books and most likely even the upcoming movie are all based on the "Halo Bible," the collection of fiction that everything is based upon. That being said, Bungie must appeal to all of it's fans, the die-hard and the casual. Other Spartans suddenly popping up in-game could only muddle the storyline in the minds of those who have yet to read the books. There's much more room for information in the books than in a relatively short video-game, due to this, some of the harder to explain things have to be left out in order for the story to be clear and understandable to the player.
In short, other Spartans do exist in the Halo universe. Whether Bungie decides to show them or not is up to Bungie. Would adding Spartans to Halo 3 cause confusion if not properly explained (something that is difficult to do in a short game time)? I believe so, but Bungie has surprised us all before.
