Subject: Community Joe Interview: CrazzySnipe55

CrazzySnipe55 - interviewed by ctjl96Today we have our Community Forum regular CrazzySnipe55 (or as we all know him, "that one cocky snipes guy"). You see him daily, but it's about time we get to know a bit about him.

Q: To start off, why don't you tell us a bit about yourself?A: Well, I'm Matt. I live in Allentown, Pennsylvania (always have). I'm 16 years old, turning 17 in October (and I'll finally be able to walk down to Game Stop and buy me a rated M game). Over the summer I'm working at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom in Park Services (......bathroom attendant). For fun, apart from the obvious video games, I like to play soccer. I've been playing it since I was in kindergarten (used to play baseball, too but I figured once I hit a .089 batting average in sixth grade it was time to retire). Um... let's see... what's something else interesting about me... Oh! I went to the emergency room 7 times before the age of 12. These incidents included everything from getting the button of someone's jacket stuck in my cheek to bouncing my head off the ground playing soccer and blacking out for a good 10 to 15 minutes.

Q: And outside of sports, do you have any other interests? Have you played any instruments or blown anything up? What kind of music do you like?A: Well, I used to play the Alto Saxophone. That was a pretty fun experience for a while, getting to learn music theory, all the different ways music works, the symbols, the beats, etc. etc. In Middle School I had the coolest band director ever, maybe even my best teacher ever. Then, when I went to High School, it seemed as if my new band director was on a mission to do absolutely everything within his power to be the worst possible follow up to my one from Middle School. If you wrote a program that figured out all the good things about my Middle School band director, and found their polar opposites, and then built a person around that, you would get my High School director.

And so, I went with the same train of thought I had gone with in Marathon, and quit it forever. I still play it on occasion, though. At Christmas time my family always gets a kick out of me playing Holiday songs. I say Holiday songs because I think I may have played the Dreidel Song one time.

As for my musical interests, I'm really into electronic music. I listen to a lot of underground electro, dubstep, glitch hop, etc. (inb4 "hipster"). Some of my favorite artists at the moment are Tut Tut Child, Tristam, and Knife Party. I do, however, still rock out to Blink-182 whenever I can. I'm not completely electronic when it comes to my musical taste. I like to take it mainstream with some Pop-Punk.

Q: I loved my middle school band teacher, too. Mr. Schultz really knew how to get down... he was banging one of the teacher aides, and I've actually hung out with that aide's sister (who is pretty hot), but I haven't seen him in years. What high school was it that employes this horrible educator?A: Parkland High School. A school of around 3600 (I think?) kids, it rivals some small colleges. It's also been known to be compared to the Millenium Falcon when looked at on Google Maps.

Also, it's known in the area as being the "rich white kid" school. Which is fun. Stereotypes are fun. And, our school mascot is the Trojan so there's lots of innuendo in school-sponsored programs. The student section at games is called the "Trojan Pak" (of condoms) and our Trojan Pak shirt (the shirt the school comes out with every year) from when I was a freshman read on the back "We go so hard, our D can't be beat."

Or something like that.

Q: Excellent, I'll be sure to ring up Parkland High and see if the teacher is available for comment. So... how exactly did you find Bungie, Bungie.net, and gaming in general? Most rockstar soccer-playing dubstep hardasses don't nerd out and play Halo, but I suppose there are exceptions.A: Gaming? My dad owned a Nintendo 64, and thought it would be hilarious to give their kid a Sesame Street game. I was generally regarded as the best at the game in my house.

For Bungie, I heard about everyone getting this game called Halo 3 and what a big deal it was. So, in 2007, I put it on my birthday list and was given my first M Rated video game. How I found Bungie.net... I wanted the thingy next to my thingy on Halo 3.

Q: Those damned nameplates. The multiplayer development team was surely rubbing their hands together and looking down on the world with an evil smile when they came up with that very effective ploy to draw attention to the site... And why exactly did you stay? Was it for Bungie itself, or the Community?A: What made me stay really was the community. I started off in the Reach forum and learned to deal with people who I would general ignore in the real world (trolls, etc.). I also got my first warning from OPR when the Flood thought it'd be cool to "attack" the Reach forum, and I made a thread about it there.

I didn't migrate over to the Community forum until around the time of the Good-Bye ViDoc (I think it was the day of the ViDoc actually). After the Destiny speculation had died down, I stayed for a while and realized there's some cool people in there (well, here) and that it was worth staying after Bungie had officially and forever left Halo.

TL;DR: The Community.

Q: And where exactly did you get that chick-magnet 'net handle? Is it just the standard xX_LEGIT_KILLA_Xx deal or is there sentimental meaning behind the username?A: Well, it used to be eatkookies55 (on Xbox), but I figured I needed a more mature name. So, after a solid half an hour of having my suggestions rejected because some jackass took my amazing ideas before I had them.... I settled on a generic username with a 55 at the end so that people on my friends list would recognize me without me having to message all of them to give them an update on my online moniker.

Q: I do suppose a rose by any other name would smell as sweet... but Bungie.net is boring; let's talk gaming. What would you say is your favorite Bungie-made game, and your favorite game overall (by any developer)?A: My favorite Bungie game is easily ODST just for the campaign. It's so immersive and the totally different approach they went for (more of a "murder mystery" than "use this one guy to take on a military of millions of aliens") worked perfectly. I played about 10 minutes of Marathon then got stuck because I couldn't figure out how to open a door. I promptly quit the game forever.

My favorite game overall, though, has got to be Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. If you don't know, it's a turn-based strategy game on the Gameboy Advanced (originally on the SNES). It's too hard to explain without getting fanboyish or overly detailed, but it's basically Final Fantasy Tactics: Advanced, but different. If you haven't played THAT... it's like chess but people die and -blam!-. It's just so fun and can be played so many different ways, which makes the replay value tremendous.

Q: Chess... except people die and -blam!-. That sounds wonderful. I swear to God I got stuck on that same godamn door and also gave the game the finger and abandoned it forever. Never played a Fire Emblem game, but my super hardcore gamer friends (I'm talking /v/ hardcore) tell me about how awesome it is all the time. They also told me ODST is -blam!-, but that's just like, their opinion, man. Have you played all of the Halo games at least?A: All of them past Halo 3. I don't feel like going back to play the campaigns of Halo 2, and the multiplayer is inactive now (for obvious reasons). I know the story that I missed so that's pretty much all I need going forward.

Q: Same here, and we're going to get flamed for that Halo 2 bit.A: I don't care. They can fight me. I'll leave my door unlocked.

Q: Well, they do know where you live... But now it's time for a bonus question: Since you seem so keen to fight, do you think you could beat me in a fist fight? I'm 5'9, 118 lbs. and a lanky white kid (standard bnet user). I'm talking raw fists, no weapons, and no shots below the belt. We've had our conflicts, so this question is pretty appropriate.A: Nnnnnno.
5'6", 108.
There are few people I could beat in a fight.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Very cool.

I was debating doing it but I assume by the time I finished there'd already be 20 replies (because I'm so popular)...

Clearly that was not the case.

Well, in america everyone should be at work.. so I expect replys to be slow.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

So CrazzySnipe what are some of your favorite movies and did you get the chance to play some classics on your N64 like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, or Tony Hawk Pro Skater?

I feel guilty. I've destroyed those bathrooms at Dorney. Every bathroom attendant just stares at me after my #2 sessions.

Hmmm... that's a toughy. I'd definitely have to say that I really enjoyed all the Harry Potter movies (I know... I know...) but my favorite of all time would probably have to be The Dark Knight; I could watch that movie for days.

and did you get the chance to play some classics on your N64 like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, or Tony Hawk Pro Skater?
Played and beat Ocarina of Time, got most of the way through Super Mario 64, played Tony Hawk Pro Skater one time (rented it from Blockbuster), and I was always a huge fan of Pokemon Stadium.

Are you one of those dicks who takes a piss in the stall and then walks out, having not flushed and pissed all over the seat, looking me right in the eye as I go in to clean up after you? :P
