Subject: Group Hiscores: Where does YOURS stand?

As to the evil which results from a censorship, it is impossible to measure it, for it is impossible to tell where it ends.

Huh. Whether by accident or talent (probably the former, since my computer skills suck), I've found a list of the biggest groups on bungie.net. To do it, use a blank space in the group tool, priortize member count, then check descending order.

Top 30 Groups:
1. The Spartan I Project (10,942 members)
2. Forgeworld (8,350 members)
3. Coup D Bungie (6,371 members)
4. Lower the Guns (4,259 members)
5. Atlas (4,190 members)
6. The Bungie Podcast (3,795 members)
7. Reach Secrets (3,756 members)
8. Reach Stats API (3,488 members)
9. Mjolnir Battle Tactics (3,291 members)
10. Owners of the Katana (3,217 members)
11. Waaahmbulance (3,034 members)
12. Forge Cafe (3,011 members)
13. The Marty Army (2,825 members)
14. Black Water Ops (2,820 members)
15. CompoundIntelligence (2,640 members)
16. Halo 3 Academy (2,270 members)
17. Foto (2,008 members)
18. Major League Driving (1,942 members)
19. HaloTrackas (1,907 members)
20. Epic Pic (1,864 members)
21. Forever Forgers (1,804 members)
22. Robot Factory (1,732 members)
23. Facility B5D (1,707 members)
24. ODST Recon (1,574 members)
25. BUNGLE (1,549 members)
26. Coup D Bungie 5 (1,420 members)
27. Sapphire (1,384 members)
28. The Black Chapter (1,335 members)
29. Death by Mongoose (1,219 members)
30. ODST 4th Battalion (1,199 members)

If memory serves, bungie long ago kept tabs on which group was what rank, but eventually abandonded the idea after a site overhaul.

Now for the facts. #1 Combined, these groups have 88,083 members. (Note many of them have been counted more than once.) #2 As of July 27, there are 19,487 groups on bungie.net. #3 This means 4.55% of all groups ever created still exist.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

Now I wonder how many of these groups are dead.

Hmm...

  • 07.27.2012 5:59 PM PDT

I'm guessing it's about average though member count isn't what it's all about.

  • 07.27.2012 6:00 PM PDT

I wonder what percentage of people are actually active in those groups...

Not a very high percentage. I've been in quite a few of them across 3 years and the ones I've been in are crypts. Especially the screenshot groups. They kind of died out with Reach.

Groups that strived for a goal or purpose which is no longer relevant die a slow death too.

My DeviantArt Gallery - For my Photoshop stuff, go have a look!

Hey I was admin for the 30th one for a while, it's activity dropped just after Reach released. Halo 3/ODST was our common ground, to an extent.

Let's see. So I run... #10 and #25. Nice.

In case people are wondering, OTK is still plenty active. For the record.

Member count is not an adequate measurement of a group. Coup D Bungie has 6000+ members, with about 20 active, while Sapphire has 1000+, but over 100 active.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Seasoned Veterans and FT need to be higher

Numbers don't mean nothing

Then why should they be higher if numbers hold no meaning?

This one group I'm in cleaned house last year. They would have been 26 on the list. Now we have a little over 60 members lol.

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

I only see four groups that are highly active. That and I'm a part of.

UNSC Leviathan was created three years ago, has 565 members, and still has activity.

Member count is only for showing off.

#1 baby! Partly anyway.

With that out of the way, interesting stuff. I thought the number of groups that still exist would be way lower than 4.55%.

I'm guessing, with maybe one or two exceptions, most are fairly dead.

There once was an ugly barnacle. He was so ugly that everyone died.

The end.

I'm not a member of any of these groups. And as far as i'm concerned, much of these groups are dead or at least no where near as active as they once were.
