Subject: How an assault rifle acts according to canon?

I have not read the books, so could anyone care to explain to me how an assault rifle acts in the books according to canon, because I`ve heard that its quite different from what we see in the games.

Waypoint Moderators aren't really Moderators, just power hungry and its goal is defend their beloved Halo at all costs. (Meaning that they wank Halo too much.)

BS Angel is alleged foe so, be wary of Waypoint and its moderators! Do not attempt to move to Waypoint. Enter your own risk.

*WARNING* IT IS MY OPINION.

Assault rifle is more powerful in novels compared to game. Granted, that assault rifle's power in games were purely game mechanics which it was non canon.

It was described that few bursts from Assault Rifle rather easily took down Elites compared to almost full clip of Assault rifle to take down Elite in game.

So, basicly, to make Halo play like it would according to canon I would have to set the damage to 300% on every gun?

Like that, yes. Try firing few bursts if it takes down Elite? If so, then it should be fine now.

And I think it was 2 plasma shots to the face for a spartan to die if I was right.

It usually takes few shots to take down shields then one to three plasma shot should take Spartan. Although, Spartan can take lot of punishment so...

Hanger one I just shredded with the SMGs until ammo was out and I just threw 'nades like a boss while BRing.

My experience playing Cairo Station on Legendary

This. Also, I think it was the Fall of Reach that said that half a clip of assault rifle could take out a squad of grunts. Maybe on Easy in CE is this possible, but no in conventional gameplay. By the way, I think I read that in to prologue, though I'm too lazy to check.
