Subject: Why is Reach boring?

Seriously, why? Granted that most games on the market are the same way, I still want to know why a game series which had the capacity to garner my attention for more than 30 minutes suddenly went downhill.

It's about as illogical as Reach itself.

Bungie created the host-selection system.

And you know this how?

LOL, Mains kids

No incentive to play really.

I just got Inheritor because I was a super completionist and had a ton of free time on my hands. I'd be scared to think how much I'd play if it had a decent ranking system.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

The adrenaline-packed thrills that you have in 10 seconds of games like Battlefield 3 are stretched out over an hour with Reach because it slow as hell.

No incentive to play really.

But why?

How do they go from a decently successful game to something that dies out faster than they can churn out another one?

Even ODST has more replay value in its features.

Search for 10 minutes.

Win by obscene margin.

Rince and repeat add infinium.

Bungie introduced game mechanics that spoil the arena FPS gameplay that once defined Halo.

global warming isn't proven and won't be - it's more of a political play for funding for "research"

Because it's Reach

I miss you ThreeSix

Ever since the release of it's beta, Reach has been the only game out there worth playing. They continually update the game with new challenges and game types, which is more than I can say for anything else out there. Further, they carefully monitor for hacks and mods to preserve the purity of the game for everyone who signs in to play. How in your esteemed opinion do you figure it went down-hill?

It's more likely that you're some COD fan-boy who's just trolling. Frankly, I think you ought to feel thankful that this websites MODs haven't shut down this pathetic post.

Vote for me for a free cookie.

Because the game comes to a halt everytime someone uses armour lock. The game is way too slow

It's boring because it's not fun.

Better than the other stuff out there but it will never live up to CE.

It's campaign is boring because:

-repetitive
-random
-ridiculous

If teleporting invincible friendly AI, AI losing their AI in the middle of war, and BOBs that aren't even used in combat is considered immersive, I dread this generation of gamers. It is a sad thing people will grow up with immense amount of scripting instead of taking a stand, defying the developer, and being creative.

  • 07.29.2012 1:41 AM PDT

Because it's not a Halo.

Even ODST has more replay value in its features.

Judging by your service record you have roughly 1/10 of games played in ODST as compared to Reach. Quite a big statement.

Also there is no single answer to this. People like/dislike game for many different reasons. Comparing Reach to previous Halo games as most people do just allows people pick out things they don't like more easily.

But it is boring. It's been boring for all 2000 games I've played in it. The only time it's been fun is when friends are there, and they're practically a necessity (and, I'll admit, Flagstravaganza was fun). I can't just go into MM by myself anymore because it pairs you up with people who may or may not have thumbs, so it turns out that the only playlist one can search alone in anymore is Rumble Pit, and even that's incredibly repetitive.

It. Is. Boring. It's just less boring than the other games that have been on the market.

I'm likely to have more time invested in a game with an actual online multiplayer matchmaking system than with a game that you need to manually find people to play with. But still, ODST has more replay value in its features than Reach. Firefight is better because each individual match is actually worth playing, and the campaign is definitely better. My time clocked in Reach's campaign is probably due to the long hours it took to do the LASO challenges, which were the only thing that prompted me to go back and play it and they just don't do it anymore.

You suck at Halo 3. No wonder you think Reach is better.
