Subject: To the people who like Reach

I won't give you an essay but I can give you 5 reasons
1. Campaign
- one of the most heart breaking battles of the human covenant war
- You can feel emotion in the characters
- In the end it wasn't the best Halo campaign, but still a great campaign

2. Multiplayer
- The most up-to-date Halo multiplayer, the best it has been
- Though custom games fell short, but may be cause of the better online gaming

3. Customization
- You imagine what your hero looks like, very unique in this type of FPS

4. Expansion
- I think what made Reach a superior Halo game was how Bungie tried new things, such as armor abilities and new gametypes

5. Extras (the little things)
- Challenges give you some motive to play for the credits
- Easter Eggs are hilarious and fun to find
- Forge is fun and easier to use

>>> This is all opinion, since you don't like Reach by the looks of it you probably would disagree in some of my reasoning.

For:

Reach campaign is amazing because it's out of level exploration is the most massive yet! Every enemy has received a massive boost in threat level and are competent enough to not let themselves get killed. Some of the harder challenges are worth doing due to their Cr payout and lack of repetition. A lot of randomness isn't always a bad thing because it makes gameplay more refreshing and challenging. Though Reach often throws small skirmishes at you, most of them are above satisfactory. Playing on Co-op Legendary raises the stakes much more than in H2. Reach features a lot of game breaking easter eggs that are within our finger tips. They're short and simple and easy to access. And of course, Reach introduced new objectives and a fire team feature which makes marines stay with you. What did the trilogy have to offer other than 'do this, do that' and imbecile marines charging into battle without you?

Against:

Reach campaign is the most atrocious Halo campaign ever made. Out of level exploration is pretty lame when there's no easter eggs or advantageous speedrunning exploits to gain. Furthermore, it's often hampered by barriers. Reach features severely nerfed friendly AI, no skull collecting, bad and cheating enemy AI who rarely use cover and who are lucky enough not to be able to deploy drop shield or they would be walking out of it after deploying it like H3 Brutes, inconsistent physics, bad checkpoint system, weak and pathetic player, repetitive or mildly threatening small-scale engagements, and a lot of random bs that makes even the simplest of things unbearable. But worst of all, Co-op is unpleasant to the core and a lot of easter eggs are Co-op exclusive. Finally, the objectives are just lame. Such as defending Jun. Defending an invincible friendly AI. That just doesn't make sense. Also, fire team is a joke. It doesn't always work. It's purely a hud element. The rest is just scripting.

No, teacher. I will not. If you don't like it, don't play it. If you like it, play it. Simple.

"What's up baby, how are you doin'? I hate the sound of my own voice and I been invited here to distract my self from the fact that I wrote all of this garbage."

Maybe if you didn't suck at the game and had above a 1.2 in Arena you would enjoy it.

Why Bungie, why would you do this?! - Halo Community

Reach, especially with bloom and sprint, moved Halo to more of a strategy game at a competitive level. This switch, while foreign to most long-time players, actually adds to the skill gap.

Thanks for the laugh.

At least you see Halo 3 for the terrible competitive game it was though.

Bloom and sprint take away from the individual skill gap but increase the mechanical skill gap for a team because of limitations on individual ability.

I'm not disagreeing that it takes away from the skill gap as an FPS, but it does add to it as a strategy game.

You make a fine argument, but all bloom did was make the game inconsistent as -blam!- and sprint is used frequently to either get away from the enemy and lead to slower gameplay, or so swords could destroy anyone with anything less than a shotgun.

1. No. The only thing heartbreaking was Carter killing the Scarab when I blatantly wanted to fight it.
-Hardly.
-Meh.

2.Multiplayer was the worst of all. Bloom made everything inconsistent, there were so many cheap strategies and cons with AA's, awful maps, and a matchmaking system that makes me want to cut my wrists.

3. Thats just a small, insignificant part of the game though.

4. Please, you mean new things that were poorly balanced and broke the game. Well aware of those...expansions.

5. -True.
- They run out quick.
-Forge was utter crap in anything other than Forge World or the anniversary maps. Forge world maps got old quick, like 5 months after release. A forgivable mistake at least, hopefully H4 will have skins for forge pieces.

I need reasons for playing a video game?

Honestly, Halo Anniversary was 20 dollars. That was enough of reason to buy it.
