I've been a supporter of the Precursor civil war idea for quite a while now. Btw, does someone recall exactly how the prisoner was prisoned? Is it clear that it was by the Forerunner, during their rebelion, or could he have been prisoned before? If it's clear, just forget the last paragraph...

I don't think it was implied who imprisoned him, If I recall correctly. This is something that's more or less fallen out of popular discussion it seems, the question of "Why was that thing in there in the first place?"

He may have something to do with this "act of barbarity".

Here is a quick theory:
The Precursors are living up in the Magelanic clouds. A civil war starts between them, and one side deploys a bio weapon known as the Flood (the act of barabarity). One side (could be the ones that made the Flood, or another) decide that everyone should join with the Flood because it would result in peace. The other sides disagree, and attack the Pro-Flood side. Everyone on that side is killed or joins the Flood, except the Timeless One who is imprisoned on that dead world before being found by humanity (making him the last of his kind, as said in Primordium).

The Precursors move to the Milky Way and start their experiments. Humans and Forerunners are created. Forerunners kill Precursors. Humans find Timeless One.

Just an off the wall, crazy theory.

No that's what he came too. The rest of us are just sitting baffled that he took it beyond getting banned, and into spam-PM'ing all of us.

The problem with your theory, MAC Blast, is that The Timeless One is actually a gravemind.

Wasn't the Didact just speculating that he was a Gravemind?

Perhaps the Timeless One is a Gravemind created by all the Pro-Flood precursors it absorbed?

"Prevent an insane evil from dominating the entire universe"? Hope that is hyperbole. Why does each successive instalment try and up the threat? The Flood were already a galaxy killing swarm, there is no real reason to make them universe busters. I have no stake in the rest of the universe, it is all just background to me. Why should I care if a galaxy that we will never visit, ever, is devoured by the Flood? Keeping them down to a Magelanic clouds + Milky Way threat is more than enough.

Not to mention the flood isn't a universal threat.

Same goes for the Precursors. They can be compelling villains and a genuine threat without being nigh-immortal and indestructible.

I just hope they dont force us to have to work with the flood agian, killing = Okay, Helping = NOT OKAY

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

I have an idea forming at the moment. So I believe that maybe at one point humanity and Forerunners were one race, but split for an unknown reason, someone like how humanity was divided in the Bible's Tower of Babel story.

The Primordial was said to be many races as one. Could this proposed one race have been apart of another being which was split as well? Could this mass separated have been that act of barbarity?

After all the main idea with the Flood is UNIFYING every sentient being as ONE.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

Damn my head hurts. If the capitol has been destroyed, who sent out agents to investigate the Master Builder's crimes? Or is that at least in part taking place before the Ecumene's destruction?

Why did you take him seriously, when he was obviously trolling?

I have a funny feeling the supposed ancient enemy is Tier 2,moved down from Tier 0. Explaining the ship in CEA T5.

And not curbstomping the galaxy at the same time.

Sorry, I confused the agents with the guys collecting evidence:
Evidence-gathering agents known collectively as Catalog have been dispatched to collect testimony from the Librarian and both Didacts: the Ur-Didact, treacherously abandoned in a Flood-infested system, and the Bornstellar Didact, who accompanies the Librarian as she preserves specimens against the dire possibility of Halo extermination.
Bornstellar doesn't meet up with the Librarian until after the capitol is destroyed. So who sent out Catalog to collect testimony if the government was effectively destroyed at the Capitol?

Yes, the Ur-Didact is the original. He was cast to a Flood-infected system...so he may as well have been executed.

I think "the act of barabarity" was meant about their doings on other species ?

Bias had several Halos primed and ready to fire at the Capitol. I think it is pretty clear that the Capitol is toast. If it was destroyed, the Forerunners probably have a backup if their leadership is destroyed. If the President dies, the VP takes over, that sort of thing.

If the capital was destroyed and that entire space decimated then there wouldn't have been a reason for bias to retreat if His and several other halo's made it and were victorious.

Bias left because the main purpose of the vist was probably to get Faber out. You notice how the capital wasn't brought up at all by them in Primordium? You would think attacking the capital would be far more important than planning to attack planets and steal fleets.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

It's the whole "Onyx was destroyed" thing all over again - assumption, assumption, assumption.

As long as it isn't spelled out clear that the Capitol was destroyed, we shouldn't assume that it was. To bad I don't have the book with me right now, but it could be practical to read that part again...

There were more reinforcements coming to defend the Capitol. Even if Bias did destroy the Capitol, he still has several incoming Forerunner fleets to worry about.

If the Capitol was destroyed and Bias left shortly after the battle why would it need to be brought up? Bias left with his fleet and the wreck of the Capitol was left undefended. Where did it say that the purpose of Bias's attack was to free Faber?

I get that but the attack was seriously a hit and run.

Bias doesn't have a fleet all he has is a ring which is why he was planning to get ships so he could attack the forerunners like he does in the terminals. I was saying that i think that was the point of the visit.
