Now I've heard sum wild theories about the forerunners and im certainly not saying they are humans or anything like that, be i was playing through Halo 1 this week (braught back some good memories) and during the level "The Maw" 343 GS is going through the records of human history (which for some reason is located in the engine room right beside the armory :S never understood that) and he says somethin about "to have a record of all our lost time" what is he taling about? why is he so interested in human history? do think this will come up somewhere in Halo 3?

Dawn of the Dead video Here
6 Minutes of Hell video here

It's not that everything was stored there, it's that he was using those consoles to tap into the network, where alot of stuff was stored. Don't ask my why the Autumn's records weren't cleared during Cole protocal.

Thats just another one of the pieces of info people use to back up their beliefs that the forerunners where human.

And yes all that info shold have been erased... but the game was done before the books, so they may have just overlooked it.

343 guilty spark was talking about the information about humanity and possibly other information that was stored inside of the pillar of autumn's computers. 343 GS was going through the ship while you were just about to set a countdown timer for the ship's destruction. the reason why he was so interested in this information was because he very highly likely used to know the forerunners and work with them. apparently, he had the forerunner history but this history was fragmented (probably because of when the forerunners activated the halos and killed themselves). the missing history was whatever was stored on the pillar of autumn.

I personally dont really think humans are forerunners i mean that seems like scientology bull-blam!- lol (srry to anyone who might be a scientologiest...or have the money to be one) and Halo is all about the christianity and junk. But what 343 said kinda struck me

they didnt overlook it from the books to game... the Autumn was "ambushed" when it came to halo because the covenant were already there, they didnt have time to erase the data, but they could ditch cortana and the cheif before they could be captured.

WTF are you talking about kid? where does it say that halo is based on christianity and if it is how the hell is it? is the MC supposed to be jesus and the covenant are what his 12 disciples?

point is that scientology, christianity, islam, judaism, etc have nothing to do with the story and the forerunners could be whoever bungie wants them to be.

look at the blind faith that the covenant have in the rings......the are blinded by religeon....THEIR RELIGEON, not ours, however similar it seems its not our religeon. it does, however, seem like midevil christianity and the holy grail, men going off, losing their life for a holy relic...but again, only a resemblance.

What if story-wise, the stories in the bible are real and through out history, humanity(forerunner) passed down their ancient knownledge using metaphors. Those who discovered the bible took it literally and so on as humanity progressed through out time.

To correct some people, the Cole Protocol is about purging the NAVigation computers. The idea is to ensure the Covenant can't find the earth. They didn't say anything about the general historical records. It takes a long time to fully clean a computer to the extent that the data on it can't be recovered. Even today police can pull data off a burnt, bullet riddled, hard disk if they need to.

The odd thing is that if the Covenant really wanted to they could have found the Earth at any time. This leads me to believe they just didn't really care all that much. All they had to do was look for honeymoon pictures, astronomical magazines or any other image containing a starfield in one of the cities they'd conquered and they could have found our home.
