Subject: Administrative Mini-Forum for Groups

There are some devoted group leaders who enjoy planning and organising things for their group's future. Sometimes it's best that the group leaders (that would be founders, admins, mods and perhaps "VIPs") have somewhere to discuss operations/projects etc. in private. Why not have a special mini-forum in groups where only authorised members would be allowed to view and participate? The reason I ask for this is that myself and many others have had to make separate groups for private discussion amongst administrative group staff.

What do you think?

I think making separate group works fine... Not saying i would not like the idea of sub forums for groups.

@spaboolly

Private forums are a wonderful thing, but they can sometimes be a pain to manage if you're using them for administrative work or brainstorming. The website I work for has three different levels of forums: One for everyone, one for staff, and one solely for administrators.

It helps to separate the inputs from different levels of management, which would be especially useful in groups that do a lot of planning but also have a large public following. The Community Carnage group comes to mind. The planners would have a place to organize their information without having extraneous input from regular members unless they wanted it.

It's a great system, and seeing something like that available in Bnet groups (which will hopefully have an even greater focus after the site update) would be a helpful asset.

Pretty much this. It would definitely be easier with sub forums though.

Like most people, I just use a mod/admin only private group. But I've always thought it would be cool to have a sub-forum in groups, and people have been suggesting it for awhile. It's just one of those things we might see in the new site update.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

It's a really good idea for groups to have subforums -- without having to waste a group slot; which is why I think the Webteam may have addressed this issue.

It's a shame they can't -- won't -- let us know in advance what features they're including until they're ready; it could save a lot of time for those of us who want additional features.
