that's awesome... and i think that it is basically an online campaign against humans... i also think that if they do have the online campaign, it can be two spartans and it can be multiple other people that are the elites and they can command the grunts and cpu controlled elites to attack... i think that would be sweet

The reason for Elites vs Spartans is b/c it would look odd having Elites trying to hold a position until a Pelican can arrive to pick up captive ODSTs. It would be even more weird to see Spartans trying to blow up a USNC base filled w/ human vehicles.

Having Spartans vs Elites works well as they are already featured in Halo 2. So being able to command grunts ect like the person above mentioned sounds a little odd. Not that I'm knocking your idea, I just don't see Bungie allowing you to command A.I. b/c they have never done so in past Halo games, but thanks for the input. Keep the posts coming, I would like to hear your ideas & opinions.

Why does this make me think of UT2004 lol.

I thought the same thing... sounds like UT2K4's assault mode. I should point out I loved the Unreal Tournament assualt maps.

This Gametype would incorporate everything that IS Halo Multiplayer into one.
I mean, you got your objectives, vehicles, strategies, & above all else teamwork.
The amount of tension that players would get & feel would be like getting a shot of adrenaline. I believe that we can all agree that our most memorable Halo moments come from when our blood is pumping, & our hearts are racing. Like times during CTF when there is only 45 sec left, & your opponents have your flag inches away from the drop-off point, & your trying to fight them off. The times when you retake the lead in slayer 49-48 & everyone is on edge waiting for the clock to hit 0 & view the postgame carnage report to see who won.
What I'm trying to say is, is that the moments above is what Halo MP was meant to give players. It was the sole reason for Matchmaking. Bungie wanted to make every game you played in come right down to the wire (Hence our lvls). By matching people up of similiar skill, it allowed the player to always be in the fight & not get blown out 50-10 or 3-0.

This Gametype embodies all that is fun, challenging, & most importantly of all, entertaining about Halo. I feel like this Gametype would fit very well into the already existing Halo formula, while also bringing something fresh to the table, that Halo fans would want to experience again, & again.

Subject: Best... Idea... Ever...

I see major issues.

1. 15-20 minutes is a good deal of time.

2. That's not Halo.

Halo is about gametypes that a very easy to manipulate. You can have just as much fun on Headlong assault as on Waterworks assault as on Zanzibar assault. You can play Ninjanaught or Dreadnaught or custom games or Oddball or any gametype, on any map.
What you're suggesting is that they create maps where the game objectives (which should be complex anyhow) are differed based on the map, not the gametype. Right away, I call you out for not the right game. The concept of only certain maps isn't a good one, because it leaves much to be desired, and it just isn't Halo.

Just as a final note, while those would be a little fun, those are more fit for, say... any other game. Conker had those kind of objectives. But Halo isn't about objectives such as those.

I am your shield. I am your sword.

I like it alot actually... needs a few kinks worked out but not bad. I like the idea of having more than one objective and its not just grabbing a flag or arming a bomb. Makes u feel like your playing more of a campaign but has more of a MM feel to it. I'd play!! GG man GG

Its too long for FPS, too much thinkinh involved for FPS, too much planning for FPS, too much depends on key factors to happen for FPS, too strategic for FPS, too un-halo-ish for halo, too boring after a couple of times (5 times playing it you know what to do and the same outcome happens), too little of a thrill for FPS. I'd rather we kept to classic halo.

Rename- This idea is ok....but not a lot of thought was put into it afterall.

yyeeaaaaahhh, im gonna have to go ahead and disagree with u there. Alot of games take at least 10 mins if not more. And the whole game is about a war beign fought so in war each side tends to try and take over the sides bases, towns, worlds, etc...so to say that this is "just not Halo" i would have to say is wrong. Its war, anything goes

Seriously think.....you want to play 20-30 min games? that are slow paced, only one option, probably way out balanced. Wouldnt you rather have fast action thriller slayer? with the intensity of drawing on 47-48 or arming that bomb in those vital seconds you have left?

Help a brother out. Click on the referral link, sign up for a fun game, log in once for the next couple of days, then you never have to think about it again!

And yes. I understand how pathetic that is, but nobody reads these things anyway... right?

I really like these Ideas. It would be almost like playing paintball, except Halo video-gamerized (word of the day, gamerized).

i think its a great idea

they could make it a pyramid style campaign
( objective
/ \
win lose
/ \ / \
objectives )

the difficulty could change based on whether you win or lose

Thanks to those that left the negative posts.<Sarcasm>
Alright 10-20 is the idea time for any gametype (In Matchmaking especially, Bungie limits the max time of any game to 20 minutes for reasons unknown to most common folk).

You say my Idea is NOT Halo. Well, I guess they should throw the idea of Online CO-OP out the door too, b/c it takes too long. All I'm gonna say is, if you have nothing positive to bring to this thread than do not post. If this Gametype does get into Halo3, guess what? You will not be forced to play it. However, I see your side of the argument. You love slayer games, filled w/ mindless killing that ends in less than 5 mins. There is nothing wrong w/ that BTW. Lots of people including myself like objective games much more than Slayer. Why? Well b/c it takes quick thinking, & planning. Objective games also gives the player a sense of purpose or a role if you will. One player will attack, another guard, while another Snipes. It's all a matter of what you deem fun.

As I mentioned earlier, this Gametype would have something for every Halo fan. It incorporates Slayer, KofH, Assualt, CTF, Territories, Campaign ect.
As to everyone else thanks for your postive ideas & compliments, I appreciate it very much, lets keep this thread alive.

I agree that the maps should NOT be Huge in scope & design. I'm thinking the typical Map Size for this Gametype would be slightly larger than Containment (Maybe twice as long). You also would not have to worry about walking a great distance to reach the battle again. When you respawn you would be placed close to your teammates & your current objective (maybe 10-15 secs away from them at the most). The utter excitement that this Gametype would bring to players is staggering. If Bungie did in fact put this Gametype in H3 I would have no worries. Why? Well b/c Bungie has never let it's fans down, they always deliver & then some. If any of you have an idea or question, please post it. Thanks.

Great idea man. I dont really have any extra ideas-you guys have really covered all of the aspects of it. Im just addin to keep the post going. With any luck Bungie'll see it eventually.
