The Pelican is one of those vehicles that looks like a great idea to incorperate into multiplayer, or even just campaign. But then again, I can't think of any kind of level that would be very much fun if it were the size neccasary to succesfully utilize the pelicans strengths, it is an armored troop transport that we have learned is capable of withstanding a good amount of enemy ground fire, but I've never actually seen anyhting like a wraith tank lighting up a pelican. In fact, so far in the games it has been pretty much impossible to down a Pelican. So how exactly would that work? Six rockets might do the trick? Eight? Any less and it really would make for a dissapointing experience. A flying APC and a few rockets brings it down? Where's the furturistic armor at? I can't really say I'd hate to see a flyable Pelican, but I'm just not seeing the practical uses of it in the game. It's a first person shooter, what fun is it to fly around in a giant chunk of steel that is defenseless? Unless it is equipped with a .50 caliber HMG like the on in Halo 2 (Ya know...the bridge level!). Eh...no point trying to come up with a million good ways to put to bird in the game. Let the guys at Bugnie who get paid to do this sort it out.
I can see where you are coming from, and you do have a point. But I think that they should put them in Halo 3 because of the sheer fact that the Humans have no pilotable flying vehicles, and the only other REAL choice I see for the Human Flying Vehicle is the SkyHawk or whatever that is mentioned in Halo: The Fall of Reach, and part of me doubts that they will put that in there.
So would you rather have a flyable Human vehicle, or none at all?
Not trying to flame or anything.
Actually there is another option, the albatross troop transport.....and the longsword. just saying
Yes, you have a point. I completely forgot about the Albatross. My bad.
However, the Longsword might not work, because if you watch the opening cutscene in Halo 1, and the size of it in the last level of Halo 1, you will see that it is HUGE. If they were to be in Halo 3, they would not be the main fight-and-fly vehicle, like the Covenant Banshee; it would be more of a bomber. But I highly doubt that they will put bombers in Halo 3. Good thought, though.
