Subject: The final level for H3 (how should the gameplay end, not the story)

One shot: one kill, zero seconds to live

How should the actual gameplay end? should it end like Halo:CE with a race against time or like H2 with a boss battle? or should Bungie develop a new way (please post ideas)?

Do none of you have a sense of humour?
We do, this just isn't funny.

halo two tartarus ending was not as good as the Halo CE ending, i loved the warthog race against time at the end!

This really can't be answered since storyline effects gameplay, may be combine both somehow.

My ending...
MC should get in a Warthog and the Arbiter gets in the turrent.
You have 3 minutes to race to the Ark before the rings (that have been activated) reach earth and destory all life outside of the Ark. On the way you see the flood racing towards the Ark and the Brutes boosting in their ghosts towards the Ark!
Half way there you see a massive chasm (a little homage to Halo:CE)
And you have to ride off the edge. But you don't make it and instead crash through a Forerunner cave in the wall of chasm. On the way you see Gravemind crawling towards the Ark.
You drive through the entrance of the Ark.
Then the cutscene:A wave of light hits Earth killing everyone else apart from some Elites (inc Arby!) and Humans (inc MC!) in the Ark who will have to repopulate the Galaxy.

EDIT: Spelling ;)

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

my ending?
inside/just outside the ark defending it from the covies who want to activate it, and the flood who want to destroy it (ark's power source inside the earth so destroy the ark=destroy earth)

Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts, absolutely.

I think the best ending would be if Bungie did something new. I am hoping for some massive battle at the end, where a ton of Humans and a ton of Covenant (the Prophet's forces, not the Arbiter's) forces, with lots of vehicles, and they just go at it.

That would look amazing with the graphics they're putting in.

combo of race against time and destroying objectives like the cables in the heretics level. It would be cool..like MC has three anti-tank mines and the Arbiter in his car (this may be too wild, but it will be cool) and every time you reach the point, you as the player switch from MC driving to Arbitor gunning to protect MC as he plants bomb, then when hes done you play as him again as you drive ...you have to drive the hog and plant one at three certain points. After it's done you have to reach another point to activate them, this is where there should be a cutscene...a brute fires a rocket at your hog and arbiter jumps off turret with sword and slices the rocket so MC can continue...Arbiter is explodeded and MC reaches the controls he presses the Big red button and you see three blasts as the camera circles MC and he ducks for cover but you see the burning hog fly through the air and land on him, but in a blurry sort of way (like shellshock) you hear Johnsons echoing voice as he carries MC to a Pelican just before the chain reaction sets the whole area into a huge ball of flame.

If you die one ending happens, if you survive it should show another ending.

no gimmicky boss fight anyway, maybe a big battle, huge armies clashing. I thought halo CEs ending was the best video gamee ending evr, mayb another race against time but in a banshee or human fighter instead of a ground vehicle.....

Read about my gaming here.

It should be so full of fighting, tense, gruesome yet glorious

I'd say that Boss fight's are a part of the story, not the gameplay, there were no boss fights in Halo CE beacause there were no prophets or super elites, except for the gold ones, no uber flood, while in Halo 2, they arrive to earth, you hunt down the Prophet and kill him, as for Tartarus, you were there to stop the Activation, would you have preferd those fights as cut-scenes?

One shot: one kill, zero seconds to live

the way i would like the gameplay to end is like how many of you said. with a huge battle (guns blazing, vehicles smashing, lots of explosions) and a race against time to or away from the ark (let's say that it was collapsing and you had to get the hell out of there)

The warthog "run for your life" got my heart pounding like none other. Especially considering my friend was driving and I was the helpless gunner.

maybe for the race against time bungie could use a banshie instead (i still like the warthog better though)

Boss fights are kinda eh....

...just not as immersive. The relatively massive battles on Halo:CE like Assault on the Control room were my favorite. You really had to have a plan of attack. Halo 2 felt way to linear in that respect. There was pretty much a logical line to follow and that was it. When I replay Halo 2 I feel like I'm just following the footsteps of the last time. When I try to reply Halo:CE I find myself reinventing my strategy each time.

The race against time was amazing.

I didn't mind the boss fight against Tartarus, but I still preferred Halo: Combat Evolved's ending.

Therefore, I would like to see a classic race against time ending for Halo 3.

i think it should be a combo of everything. you race to the ark and find truth, kill him, and then arbiter and master cheif come back to back and fight off huge armies of enemies.
