For halo 3 when there is a sword on the ground should it just be the handle? so there isnt the blade glowing, even that it would be hard to find sometimes it could be a way of hiding it around the map so if the players find it, it would be slightly more rewarding some how.
i also don't like how if hovers.

that would make a lot more sense, and would be nice to have a some hadicap opposed to the infinite battery.

only if there is a decent way of seeing it, like if the handle glowed in some way so everyone doesn't just walk past it. or maybe even move the location of it every time u reload the map

good logical idea i see where this is goin but it would be far too hard to find it'd probably look like 1 of those pieces of trash scattered throughout urban maps like turf and headlong they may however redesign the sword in some way to make this work

As for having the sword be just a handle it is simple enough to make it still show up. Just have it bear a small light that flashes while it's not in use just some tiny little feature that could blend in with the design and perhaps add some back story to it by claiming it is some way to identify a persons' sword with in the covenent (such as many of the sword users in the covenent have some warrior pride so they may want to know which one is theirs for some ritual where their sword is more an extansion of their body.

That could be a simple explanation why the sword has a little flashing light perhaps to tag personal property (maybe in campaign give a few different colors per sword using enemy.

Or they can always just leave it floating around, sword ready, as is now.

maybe they could use sound to help like make a small slow pulsing blue light on it when not in use similar to light on ur mute button but a little brighter and maybe grant it a beeping sound thats not too annoying to help u find it easier

lol, but it does not need to be find-able, though i don't think it should be a story. maybe just a little or change the colour of the handle.

yeh what story could a sword possibly have anyway? what, a cutscene showing how the sword slashes people, oh what a memorable background story..

lol, "This was the sword used to kill Tartarus, and it also cut the station on Basis free, the one with the heretics on." *DDDDRRRRING!!!* "Class dismissed."

Ahhh... When an Elite takes out the energy sword... a sight to behold.
I agree, and when you die, the sword should go back to its normal-handle state, like it did in ANOTHER DAY AT THE BEACH when the ODST's killed the Elite.

That's actually a good idea. To also improve the Sword, I would have to go with taking away the lunge feature completely, in smaller maps. The Sword dominates the underground of Lockout with anyone whose had about a week of Halo 2 Multiplayer experiance. Taking away the lunge capability would make those who want to distinguish the Sword happy because now it doesn't dominate cramped quarters, its just a melee tool. It should be a 1-hit K-O melee too, like it was when the Gold/invisible elites had it on Halo 1 =)
