Subject: Court forum

Every member of the Covenant shall walk the path. None will be left behind when our Great Journey begins. That is the Prophets' age-old promise, and it shall be fulfilled!

There should be a forum where you can go to and post to appeal your ban.

Who else agrees?

Why would you want it to be public?
also, wait for New Hawtness. Who* knows what it will bring.

Unless... what if you posted there and only you and all the moderators could see your post?
That actually seems like a good idea. Would help neutralize any fears or complaints about unjust bans too.
However, it would probably be abused.

No. Those are private matters between the user and we moderators.

That sounds good.

Nah. I think the current appeal system is best for everyone. Chances are if you got banned, you deserved it. Boom.

Positive vibes.

I feel like private messaging accomplishes the ban appealing process just fine; and in a more civilized manner, I might add. No offense, but to make such matters, such as those that have resulted in you getting banned, public, seems unnesscary, given the fact that we already have a system that allows us to appeal bans in private. Messaging a Forum Ninja privately takes time, perhaps, but regardless of the form in which you appeal, my guess is that it will take the same (if not more) time to appeal your ban.

I think it should be private. And it'll cause a lot of drama if this "Court Forum" was public.

I feed on the tears of those that cheat!

As for the OP, I'm indifferent about it. It could work if all the moderators see all the threads, but you're basically jumping into a shark tank and letting them eat you alive.

Bye.

So it would look like a forum with no topics? Or it would be full of threads that normies can't click on?

  • 08.01.2012 6:38 AM PDT

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

How about handling ban appeals like companies handle online customer service chat. All online mods are required to be logged into the appeals queue, the banned party just needs to click a link that is supplied automatically in their ban notice and they are connected to the first available moderator. Then the banned party can explain their case while the mod reviews the evidence from the ban and decides if it should be overturned or not.

Of course mods can't work appeals for users that they banned so the system would have to work in such a way that it would know which moderator banned the user and route the user accordingly.

Practical, yes?

Narwhallace Smithington: Gone, but not forgotten. Never approve of anything lil guy. <3
Furious George: The new -blam!-

Would it be like what some people do already, either on here or in private groups where the person who is banned paints the moderator in a negative light, only telling half of the story to make themselves look completely innocent?

Example: True Underdog banned me for posting my opinion.
Actual reason you were banned: You called user X a -blam!- -blam!- (and bypassed the profanity filter).

I'm just curious. :)

I have total faith in the mods, so this forum is totally useless.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I think bans for the most part are between the mod and the user.

The ONLY time you should make any ban public is if you believe as a whole a certain rule should be removed for the site. As in, you are making the thread about the site not your ban.

I am pretty sure you still can. You may not get a ban completely appealed but you can get some shortened.
