Now, I know how people are all thinking about how the Spartan IIIs are the new Spartans that CPO mendez is training, and all that stuff. However, I don't think that it may be so. Here's my reasoning:
There were 150 original recruits for the Spartan II project. They were all given a number based off of that. Now, Nicole has thhe number 458. Which would mean that there are 458 recruits. That would mean that Nicole is not one of the original recruits. So, some people have theorised that Nicole is a Spartan III, or Spartan IV, or some number higher. After all, she is at least 1 series later, right?
Well, Bungie stated in their original announcement of Nicole that she was part of the Spartan II project. That means that, no matter when they are recruited, they are still Spartan IIs. So, what does this mean?
Well, for one, it means a simple change in grammar usage. references to future spartan groups should be called new spartan IIs, not Spartan IIIs.
The big thing is, if the whole CPOMZ and SIII thing actually referr to a Spartan III project, that means that there has to be some significant difference between Spartan IIs and the Spartan IIIs. Which would mean that, if we are still going with this theory, the Spartan IIIs are some radical, even more powerful combat augmented group being made now.
Now, how could they be different? Better armor? Maybe something completely revolutionary, like biological armor? I know its a stretch, but it seems to make sense. What do you guys think?
