It's been a few years since graduation. For whatever reason you find yourself returning to your old high school (let's say, it was discovered that you never passed Remedial Science 1A and have to retake and pass the class to keep your job as a nuclear technician).
You remember the building, the layout, the faint scent of cigarette smoke detected within a ten foot radius of the teachers' lounge. But things are different. The posters all follow the same format and archetype you're familiar with, but they're new to your eyes. Crazy old Mr. Schmaltz is gone now (you're uncertain why-- perhaps he finally lived up to his nickname and completely lost it after one too many students said "swag"), and the lobby has a new paint job. It's all, to quote a St. Vincent song, "just the same but brand new."
I recently just surpassed by six-year anniversary on B.net. Are any of the other about-four-plus-year-old alumni experiencing the same feeling I am? Maybe it's just because I haven't been tremendously active in the past three years, roughly, but I hardly seem to recognize any of the old droogs I remember from way back when. Any vets still around these days?
