It's been a few years since graduation. For whatever reason you find yourself returning to your old high school (let's say, it was discovered that you never passed Remedial Science 1A and have to retake and pass the class to keep your job as a nuclear technician).

You remember the building, the layout, the faint scent of cigarette smoke detected within a ten foot radius of the teachers' lounge. But things are different. The posters all follow the same format and archetype you're familiar with, but they're new to your eyes. Crazy old Mr. Schmaltz is gone now (you're uncertain why-- perhaps he finally lived up to his nickname and completely lost it after one too many students said "swag"), and the lobby has a new paint job. It's all, to quote a St. Vincent song, "just the same but brand new."

I recently just surpassed by six-year anniversary on B.net. Are any of the other about-four-plus-year-old alumni experiencing the same feeling I am? Maybe it's just because I haven't been tremendously active in the past three years, roughly, but I hardly seem to recognize any of the old droogs I remember from way back when. Any vets still around these days?

This place hasn't really changed much. Kinda been the same as far as I can tell. Still, I miss voting booth.

I am so used to how the site looks now that I did not remember what it was like back in the '08 days. After using the wayback machine and seeing the site from back then I kinda feel old...

I've been here for almost four years. I don't think I'm anywhere close to my "veteran" days. But for what it's worth, everything feels exactly the same, the only difference being where and who I am, in this Bungie.net equation. :D

Aye, perhaps my persistent nostalgia is the result of my perception of change. I tend to view the past with rose-tinted glasses.

And perhaps I feel the way I do, because I am yet to have a distant past in Bungie.net worth looking back upon. My account is almost four years old, but I feel like I've only truly been here for one year.

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

I made my first account on this site on 07.27.2007, so does that make me a "veteran"? Probably not.

Anyhow, this place has changed somewhat (mainly due to legal matters and well-known employees leaving) and so many members I actualy remembered the name of have gone inactive. The current site layout is not my favourite, but is ok.

No, ExcessiveFaun6 is not my real gamertag.

Cortana: The message just repeats. "Regret, Regret, Regret."
Miranda: Any idea what it means?
Sgt. Johnson: Dear Humanity... we regret being alien bastards. We regret coming to Earth. And we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!
Marines: Hoo-rah!

I've noticed some people have left, new ones have arrived. The Septagon forum is very much the same, but for some reason I feel that the Halo: Reach forum attracted a lot of active posters who I'm not really a fan of. It was the beginning of the Flood overflowing its bounds, and therefore the beginning of the end.

I'm starting to see more strangers and new faces, but that hasn't bothered me or altered my experience here much. The thing I'm noticing is the members that I use to see all the time, but no longer see anymore.

I would like to reaffirm my allegiance to this country and its human president. It may not be perfect, but it's still the best government we have.

Oddly this is familiar to you, as if it were from an old dream but you can't exactly remember...

I think that for the most part the "old" regulars have either retreated to Private Groups or switched sites.

Probably, I just want to log in here once a month for the next 20 years or so. Then I can make people marvel at my join date.

I made my first account here in 2005. I've had pretty significant times of low activity from Halo 3's release until I made this account, and again from Reach's announcement until its Beta.

It's definitely been interesting to watch how the attitudes have changed around here. In the lead up to Halo 3, Halo 2 was constantly trashed; Halo 3 was also trashed post-release. Now, a lot of Halo fans (especially on Waypoint when talking about Halo 4) want to talk about Halo 3 like it's a classic. It's baffling in my mind to think of Halo 3 as a classic as I've been here since 2005, and around Halo since CE.

Halo 2 now holds legendary status, and there really aren't many CE vets left compared to the size of the active community. Bungie's transition from Halo has also been very odd.

I once took my wife to my alma mater high school after the kids had gotten off for the day, and when we got to the band room I proudly showed her our band's two or three (regionally-)prestigious awards for competitions. They were the first awards the band won, because we were under a new band director that year. I was pretty proud of them until my eyes gradually scrolled to the right of these awards and saw the 15-20 awards for each school year subsequent to the year I graduated.

Sometimes I get that feeling here as well.
