MC just left as REACH was getting glassed by the Covenant. What happens when a plent gets glassed everything dies. Another SPARTAN is floating in [Now Covenant controlled] Space around reach with a dwindling air supply..the other SPARTAN in the PoA cryo tubes is Linda, but she is medically dead. Wouldn't you think you were the last of your kind as well?

Umm...didn't we all just say that the books were not going to influence the game, and since everything there is from the books, then that would have little to no influence on the game

Well since the Prophets, Brutes, and MAC guns were first introduced in books, then we should discount them too, right? Oh... wait... those made it into Halo 2... :)

You assume, then, that prophets, brutes, and MAC cannons were "invented" in the books? Why? Because the books came out before Halo 2? Interesting. Tell me, if your grandpa was born in August, and you were born in January, does that make you older than him?

Haha, good point- allow me to clarify...

I know that the books were not created first. It's just that that particular information regarding the Halo universe was first revealed to us in the books, and then later in Halo 2. I'm not foolish enough to assume that the books SHAPE the games or anything- I just hate the vehement opposition of people that haven't read the books, stating that something from the books will NEVER make it into the games. We've already had a few (albeit minor) cases where that has happened. Helljumpers, for instance, were introduced in the books. Created by the books? Certainly not. But the first time the fans got to seem them was in the books.

But yeah, you're right- those things weren't crafted by the books by any means, I should have acknowledged that in my post. All I'm getting at is that sometimes information shows up in the books first and then later in the games. It's not an impossible scenario. :)

The keyword of my original post is "introduced". I never said shaped. The point of my post that I'll concede was in error were the words "made it into" Halo 2- that part was poorly worded... A better statement would have been "those were in Halo 2."

yes halo 2 gave an enormouse amount of reference to The fist strike, i noticed the named of the weapons the used by humans were matching the books, the BR and SMG made there first apearence in the first strike before halo2 came out, at the beggining of halo 2 guns asks sarge how he made it out in one peice which was only stated in the fist strike *takes deep breathe* and the most convincing evidence is the fact that in the end of halo one MCs armor was fine and working properly, but when H2 rolled around the thing was destroyed and the state of the armor matches the description of how him armor would look at the end of first strike

Well, since this IS the final battle for Earth, wouldn't humanity need every last person they can get to fight?

The Spartans not being in Halo 3 would be sorely missed from my point of view. They are very strong characters and it is shameful to leave them without wondering what happened to them. The Master Chief's character as a leader should not be left in book form, but should be fully imagined (even if they are only AI comrades).

By the way, Shiska, wasn't it said by Joseph Staten that he collaborated very closely with Eric Nylund on First Strike while writing the story for Halo 2? If that isn't evidence, I don't know what could be.

I think what Shishka was saying was that the story process of a Halo game isn't based on what just happened in the book- but rather, all of them (games and books) are based on a single storyline that Bungie knows and approves. Likewise, Halo 2 was more than likely in development before First Strike was written.

Anywho, I hope I didn't misrepresent you Shishka, but that's kind of what I gathered from your above post, and why I clarified what I said.

I had that idea, but that still does not rule out that the other Spartans could be present. It just represents another reference to the existance of the "Halo Bible".

So the main question is: Does Shiska's comments say that there will be no other Spartans in Halo 3? No. We will have to wait and see how the story plays out.

And like any smart person, if they say so on the front page of the website, then I will shut up, but I would like to see them in the fight.

That is because Bungie employees eat, sleep and breathe ownage. Except Frankie, he doesn't count because no one likes him.

yay!!!!!
someone who is
NOT INVOLVED WITH GAME/STORY DEVELOPMENT
said something

Shishka's word is not law other than concerning the forums so it isnt neccasarily true

P.S. read the last line of your last quote, someone who is involved with the story said:

Joseph Staten: The books are, for better or worse, part of the canon. In the future we may choose to revise or flat-out ignore some of the less appealing ideas (Johnson's biological immunity to the Flood, for example), but folks should treat them as defining elements of the Halo universe.

including something that defeats your argument in your own post doesnt help your cause

and also dont say that the other spartans are a "less appealing idea" because this topic wouldnt even be an issue if it were

Yeah I heard that to. Must be why Halo is one of the top ten games in existence? I also heard they do pwn injections via pressure washer. Only high quality pwn, too.

Twelve Large ²

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

At one point, I had a hope that other Spartans would be able to reunite with the 117, for MC's sake.. But I'm afraid he's alone now, without his ol' pals, and without his Matriarch. I don't expect much of anything from the books to show up in the games come Halo 3. No Ackerson. No Halsey. No Spartans.

I agree that the books are written for a different audience. However, a game based on the Fall of Reach could be very popular and enjoyable. Even if there are no other Spartans in Halo 3, I still want to only play as MC. Playing as the Arbiter was not as fun.

Location: Outlaws' Summit.

i know what the problem is between us all.

it took me few hours to realize it after being flamed and for the first time flaming back.

we are so deeply rooted in our beliefs. this a an open forum, where im sure we all want to be heard. when someone has a point and another disagrees, that naturally hurts that persons feelings and then the person feels the need to flame. this leads to what we have: a giant argument fest.

now im not trying to tell you guys to stop debating. but stop being so uptight. If someone thinks that there wont be any spartans in the game, so what? you post your views and leave well enough alone. if someone wants to think there are three blinking lights in chiefs helmet then so be it. even if it may not make any sense, i guess we all have to realize that we're not gonna change each others stance on a particular idea

i believe more spartans would ruin the game. now you can all the evidence you want at me, flame me, gang up on me, try to bring me down. but none of that will change what i think. the same goes for those who are so hard pressed on their being spartans.

i guess we're all just frustrated when we think we're right and it appears we cant make others see it the same way.

i say that we keep at a healthy discussion, dont flame those who dont believe you're right, and have evidence to support your claim. there is no need to target any individual and get upset at an OPEN forum.

just a thought

O M G
Namiko Spartan you make another "there won't be other spartans in halo 3" thread everyday. You come with little or no proof (last time your entire evidence was based on your own sig), and we come to the fight with 10 times the evidence you have and yet we cannot convince you. You spread your foolish propaganda like the black plauge. Are you really that ignorant? Thick skulled? I don't know but personally I'm done.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

The Novels are the official story/continuations to the games which means that the events in the Novels did happen. However... the spartans who survived in First Strike will not be in Halo 3 for sure due to confusion.

But there is still the possibility of other Halo games that center on those surviving Spartans during the events of Halo 1 to Halo 3... that is if Halo 3 isn't the last game. Think of it as a way to fill in the gaps!

It's a debatable issue, but after Halo 3 don't be surprised if they make other Halo games that aknowledge the Novels, it's something that is possible but again the only character from the novels I could picture seeing is Ackerson (Because Lord Hood first appeared in First Strike).

But we will have to wait and see.
