"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

It's because you've lost more games in Slayer than he has. I see that the guy above me has already linked the ranking explanation thread, so I won't bother telling you all the stuff it says; just go read it, it's an interesting read anyway. However, from the sound of it your friend is probably on a new account. Since he has almost no losses, he'll go up very quickly, but you, with far more game played, will have to prove that you deserve to go up. However, since your friend has won almost all of his games, the system "expects" him to win and won't be at all surprised when he does, so you won't go up as much because he's won so many games. If you really want to go up, play with someone who has a horrible record and then win games. However, winning consistently will sned you up no matter what. Also, one last point; your in-game performance does not affect your rank at all. You could get a perfection or go -35 and still have the same rank result if you win.
Correct. In short...
Basically you might have a high EXP in the Team Slayer playlist. The more EXP, the harder it becomes to rank. Also, the more losses you have works against you ranking up too.
Techically speaking, it's the number of games that makes the difference, but it doesn't really matter. Just to clarify. Everything else is right though.
