Why would it change? He's going to have the same type of armour as he had in Halo 2.
How do you know? Do you have an uncle that works for Microsoft?

Probably because we see the MJOLNIR armour has had very little modifications to it.
At the end of halo 2 he enters a massive battle. Is he going to have a quick pop down to the armory and wait for them to invent some new armor (bout three days since he got the current stuff) .
According to Bungie, the Master Chief has gone through alot. So he probably had to get repairs from a nearby armoury.
In the middle of a battle? Ok maby he could.
UNSC forces would have probably retreated or fallen back in order to regroup for a counter-offensive. The Master Chief could have arrived on Earth just in time after escaping the Forerunner ship to get some touch-ups.
The UNSC haven't got the men nor the resources to battle non stop now that New Mombasa has been completely boned.
The only hope that Earth has is some help from Elites, or from another Human controlled planet.
If you read the books, there is one part where they are going through the mountain, and Dr. Hasley is continuously performing repairs on all of them. Not complete overhauls, just certain parts being replaced. So, it is not all that unreasonable that the helmet would possibly get upgraded to show new information
Exactly, upgrades, to help them in the very near future. The Master Chief has a hell of a load of fighting to do, so don't you think it would help if he got some technologicial advancements?
Keep in mind though that that was when they still had Mark V armor. They recieved some parts from what was probably prototype Mark VI armor. Master Chief ahs the latest armor though.
True. However, we can't completely rule out the idea of prototype Mark VII Armour or also that John arrived just days before the Mark VII Armour was ready. Who knows.
He was only away for a few days though.
There is a difference between the day before something is ready and the day it is ready, no?
