no. a parisite just latches on to a host, and uses it for energy...the way the flood mutate it's victims...well...you cant really call it either can you? Maybe.....It's a Virus, and a parisite, all in one....what fun!
No, a parasite is something that attaches itself to a host and takes the hosts recources, in the flood's case they tap into the centeral nervous system and take control of the host. They also use up the host's minerals ans whatever the infection form needs. The reason why you think some are green (halo 2 ) is because thats the marine's chest armor piece. The flood could mutate the host easily by sending chemicals/enzymes to alter the muscle and skin tissue of the host.. the reason why its green in Halo:CE is because thats what skin looks like when its rotting.
The sensory tentecals are from the infection form, they etheir drive them through the chest or out of the neck of the host. The mutations take place because the infection form tells the body to do so, not because it has a different virus.. also, another reason the flood aren't a virus is that you cannot become a flood form in any way other then being infested by a flood parasite. You cannot become a flood by 'inhaling' flood spores, in my opinion flood spores are simply unfinished flood infection forms.
