I'm not. Yet.
If I want music I'll use an Ipod,. for games I'll use a DS or Gameboy, and the main use foir watching movies on it for me personally would be to watch them on the plane.
But the battery life for Playback is a damning 2 and a half hours. I couldn't even watch LOTR, or any other lengthy movies on it. And it would be a trial to watch any movies on it, unless you had just filled up the old Li-Ion. Not worth it, for the movies.
--The overall form of the system is good, but it's the function that is the problem. There is problematic battery life, having to use the UMD's for playback, (You'll have to buy special, expensive discs, much like the MD, just to watch movies.)
I don't see any games that really interest me on the platform, particularly. If the only real blockbusters are going to be PS/2 ports, it isn't worth it. I'd like to see a library of orginal games.
The price tag looks high for a platform, I can get a console, or an Ipod, or a bunch of other pretty high qualtiy equiptment for that price point. All of them would do a better job of playing games, music, or movies. I don't like these new Franken-Gadgets, and I'm not alone.
Sony has screwed me before. One word, Atrac3.
If Sony tries to start imposing things like that upon the system, things could get really ugly, really quickly. Higher prices, etc.
I'd like to see the PSP succeed, I really would, but until I see a healthy library of fresh games that are worth buying something that expensive, I'm going to be fooling around with the DS.
