Subject: I have a suggestion to stop all those stupids wars between chapters.

Go to your room!

...Well I'm glad that worked, because those would have been terrible last words.

I seriously struggle to understand what someone thinks they acheive through declaring "group war" on another "chapter" on the "internet"

Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

I don't think most wars are member number related, i think they are for a far more immature reason than that. However, regardless of these petty fights, i can't see what good removing the member counter would do. Am immature child will always be thus unless you teach them otherwise.

I too recognise the problem, but this is not the way we should be going about it. Problem is, i don't honestly know what to suggest.

I just recently became head of ODST Recon, number 4 largest chapter, and I don't think you really don't have to worry about the individual chapters fighting so much anymore. Most members or at least their leaders have come to the conclusion that chapter wars are not good for their chapters and have stopped them the best they could.

Now it's more individual people for one reason or another want to harm the large groups. Most feel as though they have been wronged by the group do to a possibly unfair ban or getting picked on in the forum. Thus they target the group. Of course the bigger groups are more likely to have more members that dislike the group becuase there are more people that go in and out of the group. While I agree member count isn't everything but it is what helps many new people to the community choose a group.

We should also give forum ninjas (Shishka, Stosh, Yoozel, Recon Number 54...etc) moderator powers in groups to better safeguard the group.

Safeguard?

Were it my charge to deal with this stuff, the moment I found that a group was plotting or enacting an attack on another group, I'd dissolve that group and ban every member from the site, permanently.

There's competition, and there's childish idiocy. Guess on which side of the line stands
group fighting?

Not all members in a group will take part in an attack. In most groups, 80 percent or more of the members are inactive. Dissolve the group and permaban the guilty members.

First of all, I have to say that I am not a native english speaker, being a french-canadian, and I apologize for any misspell or gramar issues.

Fellows,

I am glad to see how many respected members take the time to give there opinion about my proposition. As some had said, the "member counter" did not represent anything.

I am moderating those chapter.
Mjolnir Battle Tactics : Members: 1581
Popular Fusion : Members: 1192
Serious Big Team Battle : Members: 535
Contubernium : Members: 181

* As it is for the "Matchmaking level", the "member counter" is like an award for the founder of those chapter.

* If we remove the "member counter", it will not affect the quality and how active and good those forum are.

* If we remove the member counter, it will only prevent someone to be "cocky" about being the biggest. This is not a flame against anyone, only a observation.

Being the biggest do not mean that you are the best.

for conclusion, I will ask Achronos to remove the group membership counter.

This is a quote from Achronos that support my idea. I dont know if I am autorise to post this PM, but here it is.

Removing the totals is fine with me. A group should be judged by activity and not by membership.

What wars?

You have no idea...

There's these retarded wars against the Elite chapters and the Spartan Chapters. This one specific Spartan group wants to destroy all Elite groups, just because they hate Elites. It's pretty pathetic...
Achronos destroyed them the first time because they were discussing hacking..and now they're back again.

It's just really retarded.

Also, I don't think removing the members count will help much. As shown above, some group wars are started through hate or revenge. Member count really has nothing to do with it

A little long, but I still think that would look great on a t-shirt.

While I don't see much need for a member counter, I also don't think that it would solve much either (this is the same logic that says if all ranks were hidden, their would be no cheating in Halo 2... yeah, right). There are forums out their that manually count posts of members to see ifthey should get promoted (which is the most asinine thing I've seen in a long time... okay that isn't true... "just another asinine thing"). So it would take but a few second to count members and just post a number on the homepage.

I rarely join groups with open membership (except for my own entertainment). I would much rather be in a group of like minded, intelligent folks than in a mad house with delusions of grandure.

There just isn't a "fix." They can make panhadling on the subway illegal, but that didn't stop the guy from yelling at me last night because I didn't want to give him a dollar.

Why not cut the time in half for account deletion? Or atleast make it so that they are autokicked or something. If they aren't active for 3 months, kick them out! This would also help a lot of groups that have activity problems, but are very large.

Hum, this is actually a really good idea. I will encourage chapter to recuit and get some interesting stuff to attrack and retain members.

I vote for that.

I don't think group wars are that big of a deal. How exactly do you wage wars between groups. I mean if there is a way to nuke a group let me know. These pointless PM spam invites are annoying. I will be targeting those groups first.

About a year ago when I was a more regular member here there was a group which I won't name. Well, this group would make a bunch of alternate names and join groups they don't like and suck up and stuff and once they got a security position they would essentially destroy and ruin the group completely.

I think that's a great idea, but I think 3 months might be too long. If somebody doesn't participate in a group for, say, 1 month, they should be removed from the group. This really shouldn't be a problem for anybody, since if they really wish to be a part of this group they can just join it again (or actually participate in the group to begin with). The only problem is that some people just look at what is going on in a group without posting, so it would be best if there is a way to tell if a member actually looks at the forums so somebody wouldn't be kicked out even though they don't post.

Meh, I know what I'm trying to say, but I don't know if it's coming across correct. I need more coffee...

lol, makes sense. not a bad idea...but i doubt it'll be implemented anytime soon, if ever.

I had a good idea! Woo!

But then there is the matter of actually getting Achronos to do that....but I really think that if this stops group wars, or atleast slows them down, then I think he'll do it. It's not necessary, but it'll help everyone in everyway, except for those groups who just want the most members.

Looking at the forums and not posting really isn't being part of the community, so it shouldn't matter how much they look. they should have to post to stay part of the community.

this is a good input.

For my part, I do boot all inactive members every month at "contubernium"

If you update the setting, it will show the real size of chapter.
