Subject: Why doesnt Bungie use campain locations for multiplayer levels?

Peace through violence

I played a little campaign a couple of days ago and was reminded of the beautiful l scenery and detail to the environments. There are so many great locations that would make KILLER multiplayer maps and I'm just curious why Bungie never utilized these locations. Example: the level where you battle your way to the top and cut the three cables to the Heterec's base. What a cool MM level that would be for an attack or defend game. OR... the level where you take the gondolas across the water. A CTF game with the two bases and Banshees included would be a lot of fun. Grabbing the enemies flag and making a mad dash to the waiting gondola...There are so many more than that but you get the idea. I hope that Bungie includes some of this into the H3 MM since it seems such a waste to not utilize such a spectacular setting that is already there. (or release a map pack with this later)

ok do you have the map pack cause if u did you would know that the level turf was based on the earth level (hence the bridge being in the background) and gemini was from High Charity

I'm talking about using the exact locations...not levels based on locations.
The familiarity of the levels after playing through campaign would be cool also.
Of course I have the map pack...duh.

Because campaign levels do not have balance. They are intended to be somewhat linear gameplay for you to keep moving toward your objective. Not MP applicable.

Not in the places he is talking about. And they would be cool.

I do like the idea of the part of the level Oracle where you cut the cables. You'd have to be careful when you jump. Kind of like the train pitfall.

Which is another reason I hope H3 has a map maker/editor included that people can create and share maps with eachother over live for customs. Vote for a popular user created map...then have it included into a MM flavor of the month playlist. COOL!

H3 won't have a map editor. Plain and simple.

Those places are not balanced for gameplay, that's why they are not in MP. Also a really easy thing to understand.

The maps have too much detail for it to be able to be supported online. Graphics, locations, detail etc get dumbed down for multiplayer action.

What plain is that you don't really know if H3 will have an editor or not...your just guessing.
If they are using one for H2 vista; why not the newer and more powerful H3?
What simple is your logic as to balance and game play.
There are plenty of areas in the campaign that would be perfect to use for MM...you'd just have to use your imagination and stop thinking simply...it's quite easy to understand :)

The HD on the 360 is only 20GB and you only get to use like 13GB of it. And Halo 2 PC runs on a................... wait for it...................a PC. PC's can have like 100GB or 200GB.

That is the greatest Idea I have ever seen...... Guys you also know alot other games(even crappy ones) with map editers have had great reply value. Exmples: TimeSplitters 2, FarCry Instincts and I hate to say it even Pariah did.

Creating that would be cool, but it would cause problems if you think about it.

  • 06.19.2006 6:15 AM PDT

Halo's a hell of a drug.

I thought they should do this as well escpecially with the possibility of having more than 16 players on the 360. I would want any scene from AoTCR from H1.
