Subject: Why Microsoft Discontinued Bungie

Microsoft and Bungie had a little disagreement which caused Bungie not to make anymore games with microsoft epecially Halo. Can anyone pleasetell me their opinion. What do you think will happen next? Whe will it happen? Will they make up yes or no? These answers are yet to be revealed.

None of that is true. Not even close.

That's not true mate. Bungie just wanted to be Employee owned. So they split from Microsoft- Microosft no longer owns Bungie like it does with, say, 343 Industries. They parted on good terms, and Bungie's next project is on the Xbox 360 as well. So they are not avoiding Microsoft or anything man.
What do you think will happen next?
We are currently 'dark.' That means Bungie isn't telling us anything about their next project. We are waiting for them to start feeding us information again. Until that time, we just have to be patient!

Your original premise is flawed. There really was no open/public disagreement (little or otherwise). Bungie wanted more independence (creative and business) and since they had such a good relationship/history with MS, their request for separation was granted, with Bungie remaining intact as an entity and MS retaining the Halo IP.

Certainly no hard feelings that I am aware of, and actually a good deal of mutual respect and well wishes if I am not mistaken.

I'm not sure what to say.

Bungie and Microsoft broke off years ago, because Bungie wanted to start new non-Halo projects. Bungie isn't associated with Microsoft as a result, and in turn there is nothing for Bungie and Microsoft to "make up".

I apologize in advance for all the crappy jokes I make.

Every single thing you said is wrong. Even the title.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

I feel dumber for reading the OP. I don't recall there ever being any public disagreements before the two companies, as Recon said. If you got this misinformation from someone, please inform them of how wrong they are in a method of your choosing. I don't advocate physical violence, but if that's your thing, go for it.

Also... we didn't travel back in time, right? Right?

with Bungie remaining intact as an entity and MS retaining the Halo IP.

Just to add: although I'm sure Microsoft wouldn't have allowed Bungie to keep the Halo rights, I think this was also somewhat desired by Bungie. The O Brave New World documentary expresses some sentiments that it was indeed time to seek out a brave new world.

Plus, there is a historical precedent. When Bungie severed its relationship with Take Two, the Myth and Oni titles were the price of freedom (depending on your point of view and how you define the terms).

Precisely. I love when people know their Bungie. A bit OT, but this kind of holds true in a lot of cases when an independent game studio will partner with a larger giant; the massive corporation will usually end up with the rights when a split happens.

Why Microsoft Discontinued Bungie

BTW; It wasn't Microsoft that wanted Bungie to split.

Lets hope that works out better than the Brave New World Jack ran into.

OT: I think the OP has been corrected in a generally respectable and even utilitarian way. Bungie was not "discontinued", it was by all public accounts an amicable split. So...I don't think you have anything to worry about OP. Nor does Bungie.

I was surprised that Microsoft let Bungie go. If it were Activision or EA, they would have simply said "No" to Bungie asking for independence.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

If Microsoft stopped allowing Bungie to produce games for their consoles, it would only be their loss and gain for their Sony competitor.
