Subject: Why Microsoft Discontinued Bungie

If microsoft gain major shares in activision expect it that they shall reunite again, and expect a more favourable take on bungies project by activision to bungie.

There is a close connection between both. If anyone hates bungie it would be apple, but old steve is dead so dunno.

If Microsoft stopped allowing Bungie to produce games for their consoles, it would only be their loss and gain for their Sony competitor.

This.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

I was surprised that Microsoft let Bungie go. If it were Activision or EA, they would have simply said "No" to Bungie asking for independence.

Which would then put the ever-present but usually unspoken "nuclear option" into play.

Where the parent company doesn't allow the subsidiary to move along, so over a period of time, the staff of the subsidiary leave and form a new independent company (which is all they wanted in the first place). This results in (using names to outline this hypothetical) MS still "owning Bungie" but the people who made up Bungie within a matter of a few months are now in a new company named "Bungle" and are doing what they proposed and wanted to do.

This "nuclear option" can also happen when a parent company dissolves a subsidiary. Example: Ensemble Studios.

As much as the phrase "corporations are people" ruffles feathers, this is what I believe is meant by the phrase. That the "company", the name, the logo are not people, but the enterprise itself is a collection of people who like working together and do good work together. Those people are who make up the company and as long as they are working together, they ARE the company. Logo, name, are irrelevant, the people are what make the organization.

Very interesting. I didn't think of the "everyone leaving and forming a new company to escape the evil clutches of an international conglomerate" as one reason Bungie was able gain their independence. But it completely makes sense the way you spell it out.

The "corporations are people" phrase, however, references how law/courts view corporations. They are " people" and can be sued and held accountable for doing nefarious deeds. It has nothing to do with corporations being made up of people and therefore, are people themselves. It's merely a legal distinction.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

They separated on good terms, not after arguments and such.

What you said was incredibly stupid, and everyone in the room is now dumber for hearing it.
