Would this be better suited for Bungie Universe?

I don't think so. I was just using the Halo stuff as references to what I mean. I was asking how Bungie came about to have this obsession.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Because it is a very prominent number in many ways.

Because they like that number?

Translated from English to Bungie:

"That's about all that can be said for plots, which anyway are just one thing after another, a what and a what and a what.

Now try how and why."

What ever the reason, they've been at it for a while now.

  • 08.10.2012 7:23 AM PDT

Type in "Arete Seven" on Wikipedia. That is supposedly Bungie's actual company name, or something like that.

No, ExcessiveFaun6 is not my real gamertag.

Cortana: The message just repeats. "Regret, Regret, Regret."
Miranda: Any idea what it means?
Sgt. Johnson: Dear Humanity... we regret being alien bastards. We regret coming to Earth. And we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!
Marines: Hoo-rah!

7 is singly most referenced number in the world throughout history. It's symbolism is present in just about every religion. The Egyptians and Babylonians had an affinity for the number, as did the Romans, as did just about every [ancient] civilization afterwards. The Bible (as has already been mentioned) is particularly rife with references to the number 7.

Bungie is in no way special for having adopted the number; I feel the main reason that they chose to reference it so much is because it has such rich history and connotation, and it's pretty sweet to use symbolism in games.

Positive vibes.

It's almost obsessive, isn't it? Seven this, seven that. Without the numbers one, two, three, four, five, and six, seven would not even exist. More to the point I honestly haven't the faintest clue as to why they have such a profound obsession with the number seven. The coolest reason I can think of is that someone who works at Bungie was born on a leap year and when their first game was released that employee turned 'seven'. But the odds of that being the reason they obsess over said number are very slim. ;)

Known by some, but not by all.

It's 7. A prime number. Bungie's number line only goes to 7. Why? Because 7,8,9, and 10. So it's 7.

1.) Good job for knowing about Bungie beyond Halo.
2.)Thank you for getting me re-excited for that project we're not suppose to know about.

As I was going to Saint Ives, I crossed the path of seven wives. Every wife had seven sacks, Every sack had seven cats, Every cat had seven kittens, Kittens, cats, sacks, wives, How many were going to Saint Ives?
None of them were going to St. Ives except the narrator.

PS: there totally is a bomb in the payphone.

Well, when I asked my folks about this, they told me 7 was the number of perfection. So this may be a reason they chose it.

I have a really bad hangover, Simon, I don't need this -blam!-!

OT: Seven is just one of those numbers that has held various meanings for various cultures, surrounded in mystery and mysticism. It seems that Bungie's just another to be charmed by the history and lore with this number.

--7-- I've been a Bungie member since 2004. --7--

Because 6 and 8 got the sh** knocked out of them and Bungie saw this and knew....7 is a bad a**

Holy crap! This year marks my 7th year as a bnet member with this account...WOW, it's a sign. One could argue 7 years and 3 months but one could argue it's been 8 since my old account was created in 2004.

It's because seven is darker.

"Living to smile, and not to succeed; smiling to inspire happiness, not to give the illusion you are happy; creativity and music to inspire smiling, which in turn inspires happiness; being nice to be happy, not for being perceived a good person."

Because out of the four elements, Bungie somehow found the 7th one, skipping the other two that should have came before it.

I think seven is a cool number.
