Subject: "Subscribe" to threads?

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

It gets me that anyone would be against this for the reason of not wanting to be spammed with notices. I'm sure a nice little opt-out/in check box could be put in play just for you folks. Subscribe and/or quote notification could be set to "off" by default so you had to opt-in to even use it, but I'm sure that would still manage to tick someone off.

How about a 'Subscibe to people' option?

That's what I thought as soon as I saw it. Yeah, like youtube. If you go to your 'home', you'll be able to see what all your 'subscriptions' have been doing.

Jordan first profile is halo odst 117 mc and first gamertag is jrman1675

This seems like a good idea.

This is precisely what I'm asking for. Every extra feature off by default.

A "subscribe" tick box within the "save thread" interface. It won't turn on unless you tick it. You'll get notifications when its ticked on, but you won't get any if they're not ticked on. That's the only caveat I'd ask be included if this ever saw the light of day.

All counter-arguments to evolution are based on a gross misunderstanding of the theory.

I want notifications when someone replies to one of my posts, but that's it. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with multiple discussions at the same time over different forums.

I think it would be okay if it's auto-on for threads you create. With an option to disable it of course. (Thinking about how Duardo would feel with 30k+ notifications)

There's a problem in that. If I alter a small part of your quote, would it detect that I am responding to you? If I remove your name from the quote, would it work then?

If it's based on clicking the reply button on your post then I don't think that's a good idea either. I click a random reply button most of the time.

The notification would be activated by the button combination "Reply-Quote-Submit"

I respectfully dislike this idea.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Like the idea.

So, like NeoGAF?

I would love this for bungie.net. After all, right now we have the "save thread" button which practically is the same feature besides notifications. You could have many different options of notifications if enabled:

>Sent a PM
>Sent an Email
>Simply have the icon of the thread show a different color
>Turn it off for no notifications at all

It works great for mega threads, or threads you find important and need to get back to them quickly. The OP of threads doesn't get notified when someone subscribes to their thread, that would just be silly and not useful. It may seem dull right now since Bungie is dark, but once activity kicks up around here again, I could definitely settle for this feature.

Don't like it? Just like, you know, don't subscribe to any threads.

Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar.

I don't like particularly this idea, the save thread works for me, also I think 343 has this option and it's really annoying.

You mean like the save thread option?

The most dangerous gunslinger in the west.

Yeah, try to convince Achronos to do that.

Tell me how that works out.

I just want to get notified when someone quotes me. It could be next to Private messages or something.

I thought it was implied that there would be some sort of system of selecting which thread you wanted to follow.
More than implied. I'm pretty sure I outright said it.

Bungie's Web Team aren't stupid, and wouldn't make a system where you'd be forced to subscribe to (by default) every thread you post in, at least for x amount of time or until you deactivate it (although I do like the x amount of time thing).I like the idea of having all subscribe and notification features turned off by default. That way, no new user could complain about how annoying Bungie.net was and those people who don't like the idea wouldn't have to deal with it whatsoever.

I'm sure that's what we're in for come Bungie.next. (I forget who I'm stealing that from, so just give yourself the proper credit if you'd like it.)DeeJ said they are calling their next site update Bungie.next, at least internally.

I respect everyone who said they didn't like this idea, but if, like evilcam, you were bullied by a notification as a child, what is the problem if all subscriptions/notifications are disabled by default?

And to whichever friendly ninja suggested aggregation: great idea. Likewise to all those who suggested a notification when you were quoted.

Um...I don't have a problem with everything being 'off' be default. That's specifically what I asked for. With that caveat, I think this is a fine idea.

-edit- oh never mind. I was just the example. You understood what I was getting at, but I didn't understand what you were getting at, My apologies.
