Sorry but the majority of fans have not read the novels nor do they care to read them. It's best not to confuse gamers like me (who represent the majority) with the canon found in the books in Halo 3.
Show me your proof that most Halo fans haven't read the books. And arguing like this on an internet forum automatically makes you a nerd :P.

mmmmm....i can just smell the burning brain tissue in here. Listen, just because some people haven't read the books, doesn't make them sucky fans. They just might not like the idea of an off to the side book. And just because someone has read it, doesn't mean you can make a fool of yourself and say they have no life and such. Savy?

And please, dont post false statistics and try to make them seem true. That pisses me off.

Aye,well put. Btw, ya know what would make Halo 3 really great? If they had snakes on the Forerunner ship that the Chief is stuck on.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

I don't think of myself as a nerd if I read the books, because it is a really well written story and I 'd like to delve deeper into the storyline. Is it really that "nerdy" to enjoy a good plot? I'm sure you at one time read a book or had one read to you. It doesn't mean that your a pale loser who never touches girls and such.

Here's some advice:

Quit trying to make people feel bad by being a little -blam!- bag

The books were great but I hated how there was a gap between first strike and Halo 2. Like were are all there other Spartens and when did the Covitant find Earth? Hopefully the book will give us enough insite to last until Halo 3. Also the grafic novel looks like it will be good.

Right on man. Well put. I have personally read the books and I enjoyed them. I dont think that that qualifys me as a hopeless loser with no life. I was reading books long before I was ever introduced to video games and I still spend a fair amount of time reading. When I am not reading I am probably out doing sports or hanging out with my friends. Doesn't that qualify as life? It just frustrates me when people get all pissy and start accusing people of having no life.

Besides the "majority" you represent is 10-14 year olds who dont read books.

Hey that's sterotyping. I'm 13 and I probably read as much as you if not more than you have. I am currently enjoying Anna Karenina and after will probably start to read The Oddessy.

I would say most people who love halo have read the books. However, the books are based on the game, not the other way around. Not everything in the books is going to happen in the game, the books simply add some flavor, and help explain things. Think of it like this, when you first played halo you understood the storyline, and that time there were no books. When the books came out you saw the spartans past, and how thing happened. You dont need to read them to understand the game.
