I am thinking about getting this RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1682014509 8

And this graphics card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1681415014 2R

Everyone told me that I could find better RAM for a cheaper price but I haven't seen any. I am probably looking in the wrong place. I know that GFX card is good but I mainly wanted help serching for better RAM. Also, this isn't just to run HaloPC on max settings but, other games too like FEAR, BF2, GRAW, HL2, and others.

Well 2 GB valu select isn't the performance brand, but i wouldn't worry because the more expensive kinds of RAM (ie XMS Pro) dont give that much of a performance edge that you would notice. That ram is juts fine. Go for it

Looks like I just remembered my PC doesn't have a PCI-E slot so I am going to grab this one and an extra gig of ram. So thats 3 gigs of ram and this.

Have you got a 64bit system? Im assuming no, as you have AGP. Not many motherboards have AGP that are 64bit.

If your willing to spend that much money on the first card you showed, Id get a 64 bit system.

Yeah, ok its a new motherboard and processor too. But you can get a motherboard that supports the 939 pin processors up to the X2 (dual core athlons) for about £60. A 3200 venice is only £70 now.

I feel that getting an AGP card is kinda wasting your money at the moment, because PCIe is the way to go.

Maybe,ATI instead ?
The 1900xtx can do HDR +FSAA at the same time,the 7900 can't.

I said I wanted to spend 600 American dollars. Not 1000 dollars. And yes, I plan on running BF2 on max along with any other game that is thrown at me.
I don't know much about motherboards or processors so I think I will stick with my P4 and my Intel 865GE chipset.

Well, that gfx card will certainly help you in perfromance, with that im pretty sure u can play Halo on 1600 resolution, as for playing most of the latest games out there in high resolution with good perfromance... but as for the Ram...past 512mb u will not notice any difference in performance... so if u have about 512mb i wouldn't waste my money on anymore Ram.

I tried to play BF2 and it crashes so much because I only have 512mb of RAM. I need more.

RAM makes your computer run faster overall. BF2 was using about 80% of my RAM and I have 512mb.

come on man, halo doesnt even support 1600-1200 res, and bf2 is a ram hog so he will need 2 gigs if indeed he wants to play it on high, now iif he can settle for medium-high then a gig will do fine, but if wants to max out then hes got to have that extra gig.

halo supports 1600x1200 res, I use it all the time...

and get the x1900xt, it's better than the 7900gtx and dont listen to OmniosSpartan about hardware, he makes stuff up as he goes along.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Halo supports any resolution that your monitor supports through EDID information (extended display identification data).

In fact, Halo is one of the best games in terms of resolution support.
