I'm sure some of you are happy when 16 players is the norm in Halo and Halo 2, but coming into a new Halo, don't you tink there should be even more?

Think about the 360, it has power and we have seen that graphically through the Halo 3 trailer. But what might it do for online. The versatility of the 360's online capabilities could be yet another groundbreaking win for Bungie. Just how big am i talking? At the most 64, 4 times as many as there are now. Imagine an enormous map that requires you to take advantage of the pelicans and phantoms. You could take 3 pelicans up and encounter 3 phantoms. A massive Dogfight would occur using the turrets on both vehicles. The pelicans would hold a max of 8 pasengers plus 2 pilots (one to fly and one to gun), and a gunner for the back turret. Of course to combat those in the air, some form of ground to air defense would be necessary. And that's just the air.

Bungie has considered doing air so if they don't get these ideas on the page now they won't happen at all.

Also, the ground would be mass chaos with wraiths and scorpions duking it out left and right. Warthogs and Spectres would also be fighting constantly. I guess i just want more fighting with a larger mass.

Squads would form a massive draw also. You would press right (On D-Pad) to talk to your squadmates, and left to talk to your entire team.

There would be no lack of weapons, as rockets and snipers for taking out air and long range enemies, and duals and carbine/BR for close range.

I think this could truly make Halo 3 a better game. I am not taking out the smaller sized maps for close quarters, I just think that doing the same thing won't allow for as big of an experience in the long run. Xbox Live made Halo 2 great, now Halo 3 has to step up with something bigger to top it off.

Although this would be cool, if they pulled it off, not only would we be waiting until 2009, but their would also be gameplay problem. Think about the Halo 2 crowd in matchmaking, can you honestly see yourself communicating with them well enough to fly pelicans to landing zones? Also Bungie would have to have different channels for the teammates to talk on because 32 voices at once it far too many. I honestly think that that will take away from the game because it will be more about getting to where you fight then actually fighting. Sure you could have a game wih 31 of your friends and play other people, but how often is that going tto happen. Also think about those less fortunate game owners. They will have lag coming out of holes they didn't even know about. This idea sounds good at first, until you think about the details.

Yeah, over 16 is good. in my opinion. but not somethng like 32 players. maybe jsut a bit more than 16. maybe 18 ,22 ,24. i know its not really much but a few more players is a bit more fun. id go with 22 really.

It is better to keep your mouth shut, and be thought an Idiot. than to open one's mouth and prove it.

Wow...talk about killing the mood man :-{

But I agree completely. I mean whenever I played Black Hawk Down on XBL, it was such chaos, even with only the closest 8 people talkin to you at a time. It was confusing, cuz you thought they were talking to you, but they were actually talking to their friend.

No Elites in Halo 3: ODST = FAIL

I doubt we're going to see what you described in Halo3. The multiplayer will likely be along the same lines as Halo 2 but on a lager scale maybe 16 players per team but what you described sounds very like Battlefield 2.

Bungie may well create a massively multiplayer FPS Halo in the future like Quake Wars but as it stands that could be a good while off yet.

They want run and gun, they don't want a mosh pit. Also with this many people I can see how spawn killing could become a factor.

I would rather they put their time into the gameplay, rather than the amount of people that can play.

I agree. The gameplay is more important, if you want epic then just play the campaign with a friend.

If Team Swat became ranked, would there still be no shields?

16 vs 16 is pretty huge...

I prefer 10 vs. 10, 20 players.

What keeps them from making a map that is approximately 2 square miles and letting 64 v. 64 duke it out? Oblivion had what, 16 square miles? Surely they could pull it off. Maybe in a future map pack/patch.

I think 16 is pretty good. But i think a higher number would be even better. But just not too high. The limit would be like 28 players. i mean come on! 14v14! doesn't that sound fun? but if they went too high, they could wind up having some techinical defficulties u know? like too much lag.

Would it not matter about the power of the xbox, but the power of everyones connection.

Sure, put all the pelicans, shadows, ghosts and phantoms you want in the map, but if you do that, the lag will create even more chaos. Look how much lug you get from 8v8 for gods sake. Yet you expect 16v16? (or 14v14 in some cases)

I think 16 is enough, but perhaps add a couple more on each team. Make it like 10 vs 10 or 12 vs 12. The lag wouldnt be much different, the communication would be alright, and it would be more fun.

If there is more than 16 players in Halo 3, Bungie will have to use dedicated servers.. If not, it will be a huge lag fest, the average host's connection cannot host that many players (some struggle with 16).

For some reason, I see Bungie stickin with the 16 player limit. It seems like every game for xbox 360 is going thtat route. I hope I am wrong, it would be sweet to have some 32 player matches.
