Normal member : 1minute between posts
Heroic member : 30seconds between posts
Legendary member : 15seconds between posts
Mythic Member : No filter

Thoughs?

EDIT: This also will help with new members that spam forbidden links. They will only be able to cause half as much havock.

The times could also be based off trust rating but that would have to be integrated into the system somehow. eg: Member with no bans perfect trust can get their post time down to say 30seconds etc

You never need to post more than one post in a minute. People need to learn some patience.

Seriously? Do you actually think that?

  • 08.13.2012 9:25 PM PDT

Nope. Just give your posts a little bit more thought before you hit that "submit" button. Maybe do some spell check while you're waiting.Posted by: ankerd123

Its ironic I just got the spam filter message.

Yes. Do you realize how short a minute is? Do you realize that? It's infinitesimal in the grand scheme of things. It's .069% of your day.

Anybody who ever complains about the spam filter because they run into problems with it on a regular basis posts way too much.

And it just said I need to wait. Haha

Bye.

It's best just to err on the side of caution and keep the time limit the same for everybody.

I don't think people are really upset with it. It's more that it's been messed up today and people have encountered it more. So they're talking about it. Once this problem is fixed things will go back to normal.

The spam filter could be 3 minutes and it would still be ridiculous to complain about. If you have to wait, take that time to make a better post because your post is clearly not as good as it can be if you made it within 30 seconds of another one.

That is a hyperbole. A 3 minute spam filter would be terrible.

People would post, wait 3 minutes, then make a 10 second reply. Maybe a thresehold should be introduced on how quick you can create a reply?

Looking back, this isn't my best idea.

Read the entirety of the thread for context. Read the entirety of the OP. Make a knowledgable and good response. After you've done that, if your 3 minutes aren't up, edit your response to make sure there's no typos or wording that you want changed.

The point is that people are way too hung up on the spam filter considering it shouldn't be a problem for anyone who makes good posts.

I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.

I suppose we all thought that one way or another."

You seem to have the idea that good posts must be long posts. That is not the case. Posts with just a few words can be well thought out and deep. You don't see quotes that are 8 pages long, just a few words.

Ignoring whether or not my post was hyperbole, if anybody runs into the spam filter as it is right now, even if it was a minute long, on a regular basis, they are not making very good posts and/or need to post less.

You whore.

You really put alot of thought and time into those posts didn't you? Must have taken hours to type them out. Re-read and correct the spelling and grammar.

I still retain the opinion that a 2-3 minute spam filter would work out okay and produce better posts if people realized what it was allowing them time to do.

  • 08.13.2012 9:56 PM PDT

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

I find myself agreeing with Snipe, I'm not sure I do that all that often, but in this case he's spot on for what I think. The spam filter currently is only 30 seconds and even if it were a minute that'd be reasonable. Seems people just have no patience these days and/or think that everything that comes out of their face holes is pure gold.

Seriously, just take the extra time to make sure what you're posting is worth it. If it's just that short of a reply, try to find a way to expand on your reply,

It would also slow down The Flood (Not that you seem to care). There are drawbacks to spam filters.
There could be something implemented such as 1 post every 30 seconds but 10 posts every 10 minutes.
