I can agree to that.

I still retain the opinion that a 2-3 minute spam filter would work out okay and produce better posts if people realized what it was allowing them time to do.
It would also slow down The Flood (Not that you seem to care). There are drawbacks to spam filters.
There could be something implemented such as 1 post every 30 seconds but 10 posts every 10 minutes.
Oh, I like The Flood sometimes. I'm just highly attentive to its obvious and glaring drawbacks and shortcomings.

It would slow it down, yeah. It'd also slow down any John Cenas, Shane Dawsons, Janes, and the like, but that'd be an accessory reason and a much less important one.

Uh I'm a bit of a noob, what's an "Achronos"?

Nintenman7: Apply yourself... Seggi31: HHHHNNNNNNGGGGG

I like it! The anti-spam filter actually just now blocked me from posting... Maybe I type too fast? Great idea, though.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

Gasp! But if that happened I might not be able to keep my 300 posts per day posting in nonsensical topics as engaging as MLP and what the OP had for breakfast!

Swag punks, fuck off!

I think it makes sence seeing as the more you are dedicated to Bungie.net the more you aren't labeled a troll. Although I'm fine with the spam filter we have, people need to use patience when they post.

Spam can't be that difficult to filter...

How bad could stopping that be?

And, of course, there's bias in this thread because most people that regular the Community Forum are high ranks on this site. So, because this would benefits them, they're going to speak in favor of it.

I would not be affected at all and I hate the idea.

Can we stop calling it a "spam filter"? I think "flooding" is much more appropriate here, no Halo reference intended.

Anyway, I don't like the idea of titles bearing privileges other than your hat color. That said, I have previously proposed the idea of new members and/or members fresh off a ban getting a significantly higher flood limit, and it will gradually decrease daily. I don't think it should be any lower than 30 seconds though.

Let's put this into perspective for a moment. Even if you make 20 posts a day (a relatively high amount), and you post right after your 30 seconds are up (now) and you somehow make 20 amazing posts a day, you are done posting on BNet after 10 minutes.

If you're on BNet for a solid hour, and you only even run into the filter HALF of the time (for half an hour total time), that's 60+ posts a day.

And, if you only make 5 posts a day, then you probably don't care about Bungie.net enough to be on the sight for more than 2 and a half minutes a day and therefore your input on the spam filter is a bit irrelevant.

All in all: the spam filter is fine the way it is.

If you post so much that you find a problem with not being able to post at a rate faster than one post every 30 seconds at frequency where you find it a bothersome feature/filter, then you need to make better posts or actually read stuff before you post. Period. 30 seconds is infinitesimally small and making any sort of system that lowers it is silly.

If anything, the best part of your idea is the 1 minute filter on new members. Now just apply that to everyone.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

Active 9/1/11, Heroic 12/25/12

The flood detection is acting up probably because of server lag issues. Also, the flood detection system is fine how it is.

The spam filter could be 3 minutes and it would still be ridiculous to complain about..

That is a hyperbole. A 3 minute spam filter would be terrible.

Read the entirety of the thread for context. Read the entirety of the OP. Make a knowledgable and good response. After you've done that, if your 3 minutes aren't up, edit your response to make sure there's no typos or wording that you want changed.

The point is that people are way too hung up on the spam filter considering it shouldn't be a problem for anyone who makes good posts.

You seem to have the idea that good posts must be long posts. That is not the case. Posts with just a few words can be well thought out and deep. You don't see quotes that are 8 pages long, just a few words.
Ignoring whether or not my post was hyperbole, if anybody runs into the spam filter as it is right now, even if it was a minute long, on a regular basis, they are not making very good posts and/or need to post less.

Two things to debunk your post. One, fast-paced conversation threads (i.e. every one ever made in the Flood, essentially) often welcome, even necessitate quick, short replies. Two, no one has even broached how different private groups are from the main forums and the possibility/necessity of creating a separate spam filter for private groups.

1. But that doesn't mean the the majority of your posts should run into the filter, or enough of them to necessitate any sort of complaining or upsettedness about about. I concede that sometimes a post of 5 words is completely adequate in Flood threads, but not every Flood thread. And it certainly shouldn't be the majority or a good chunk of the threads that any given person replies to. If you're running into it enough because you only reply to threads like that, think about how you can increase your posts by about 20 words or so, so that you're not running into the filter all the time.

2. Oh, it applies to PGs too? I mean, that's okay I guess but if it was increased I would only do it to the mains; I didn't even know they both had it.

This world wants to drag you down... And the weight, that guilt they want to hang around your neck, you don’t have to carry it one more step. You think they won’t let you rest, but it’s not up to them. It never was.

Normal member : 1minute between posts
Heroic member : 30seconds between posts
Legendary member : 15seconds between posts
Mythic Member : No filter

Thoughs?

EDIT: This also will help with new members that spam forbidden links. They will only be able to cause half as much havock.

The times could also be based off trust rating but that would have to be integrated into the system somehow. eg: Member with no bans perfect trust can get their post time down to say 30seconds etc
It shouldn't be determined by those titles. The only reason I'm not Heroic right now is 'cus I don't post enough. Maybe determin it by Honorable/Noble/Elder etc, if at all.

In this case, of course it does.

No.

All I'm asking for is that the filter be relevant to the forum/private group. I hate having to wait one whole minute just to post between The Flood and my private groups.
