"There's daggers in men's smiles." - Donalbain, Macbeth, Act II, scene iii

I was skimming through the Bungie.net privacy statement (I'm not sure why) and I stumbled across this intriguing paragraph:

You may connect your Bungie account with your Facebook account. To do so, you will need to give us access to the information on your Facebook account through Facebook Connect. By doing so, you authorize us to use and disclose all information exposed to us through Facebook Connect pursuant to this Privacy Statement, including your status updates, photos, videos, name, email address, information regarding your friends on Facebook, and any additional information that Facebook may make available through Facebook Connect. You should check your Facebook settings to manage the information sent to us and third parties through Facebook Connect.

Why is this paragraph in the privacy statement? I don't recall seeing an option to connect my Bungie account with my Facebook account, ever.

It's the fifth paragraph in the statement.

I've never played Crimson, but based on the fourth bullet point I'd say that's the integration it's referring to at the moment.

Maybe more will come, maybe not.

I believe you may have exposed a feature of Bungie.next

That would make sense.

It seems odd to reference a feature that wouldn't be a part of Bungie.net itself for another year, at least. And that's assuming the New Hawtness is going to have a Facebook Log-in in the first place; that allegation has yet to be confirmed.

Swag punks, fuck off!

This is awesome, I had no idea! Thank you so much.

Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

Ugh.

As long as it isn't forced on me at all and there isn't an elusive bonus-thing that I'll never be able to get unless I connect I don't think I'd hate it [i]that[/u] much though.

This is interesting. What CAVX said makes the most sense so far.
Nice find but, OP.

No. NONONONONOOO NO.
JUST NO.

I dislike facebook and I'd absolutely hate to see Bungie.net accounts linked to it. Of course as long as it wasn't forced upon me I wouldn't mind it and all I'd ever do in that case is complain about it when the topic comes up.
If such a feature was ever implemented... I doubt you'd be forced to use it.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

You had to connect your facebook account to view your stats on Crimson, if I remember correctly.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

Active 9/1/11, Heroic 12/25/12

Interesting find, it would be cool if they implemented this in future Aerospace games.

I'd be willing to bet it was the Crimson integration as well. I haven't seen Facebook anywhere else on the site.

I was wondering how this thread jumped from 8 to 10 replies in less than 2 minutes. That's weird.

I recall being able to share your firefight scores from ODST on facebook. In fact I believe i did it on numerous occasions.
But I guess that doesn't really link your facebook account to bungie.

Just one of those share things.

Such a feature would certainly be opt-in, not opt-out. A lot of people on here value their anonymity (myself included) highly and would never connect the two. That's one part of the beauty of this site, and Bungie is smart enough to know that.

Achronos made a post a little while ago stating that Bungie wants to make joining Bungie.net a lot easier than it currently is (or something similar to that). So it makes sense to provide an option to sign in to bungie.net with a Facebook account (note: not "link" an account) given the functionality Facebook provides developers and users, and how large the number of users of Facebook is.
