I had my Legendary Edition that I picked up at midnight, a brand new set of 5.1 Logitech speakers I bought a couple of weeks before release, and a VGA cable I bought one week before. I was a little upset that I wasn't able to get a widescreen monitor in time and only had my 5:4 at the time. The FOV felt really narrow throughout Sierra 117, but it was so weird finally getting to play Halo 3.
5 minutes into Rat's Nest, my buddy called saying he bought Halo 3 from Walmart the minute it opened, which confused me as he didn't have a 360 - in which I found out that his reason for calling was to have me go with him to buy one. I really hated having my session interrupted as I wanted to play it badly, and uninterrupted. The tradeoff in doing so was that I finally convinced him to let me borrow his monitor. His Xbox was dead from the get go, so we had to go trade it in. More precious time being wasted.
When I finally got home and hooked up the monitor, the game was instantly more fun. I was glad that once Tsavo Highway started up, enjoying that big desert and bright blue sky was all the more fun thanks to the wide aspect ratio. The cutscenes were much more enjoyable.
When the credits rolled, I sat there thrilled over what I had experienced, but was kinda sad that not only was the trilogy over, but that once again we were taken away from Earth and from its battles that weren't all what I expected them to be.
