Dedicated servers would still help alot, and they only need to be there for matchmaking not every game. taking out teamstandby and bridging useing dedicated servers is huge and all it would take is for everysingle person who buys Halo III to pay $5 more or so.

Well, as I read this post and it's serious nature I thought I would make a sarcastic remark to "lighten things up" a little.

I think it will. According to the post it will stop it for good.

1) Dedicated servers do remove most forms of cheating. It would certainly stop standby and bridging. And as modding is almost impossible on the 360 I dont even consider that a problem.

2) Glad to know my 360 hosts Battlefield 2 and Final Fantasy games, I was wondering how they did that.. I always thought the 360 already had network middleware that allowed it to run peer2peer games or client/server, even within the same game. Guess I'm wrong. I guess when it says 'Signing into the EA servers' it's just a mistake?

Or maybe you're just plain wrong?

Hail to the Victors! Reppin' that MAIZE n BLUE!!!
Perfect Grenade
Chill bro. Gotta get my bowl.

Ya, but the majority of cheaters on Halo2 use softmods, which require host to use effectively.

Dedicated servers will help with:

Standbying (a bit)
Host Bridging
Lagging out another player

It will not with:

Modding
Any sort of bad behavior that bothers people but is still not cheating.

Also, I think Bungie has made it pretty clear that there will be no dedicated servers.

Have you ever played XBC? Modders will make their own servers. If a modder enters a server, the admin. will kick him immediatly.

Damn snipers!!!

I have now read the books...

your stupid makes my brain sad

is this a dumb idea??? what about having "moderators" who can play on xbl frequently, and have the ability to isue temporary, but instant, suspensions. granted youd need bunch, and theyd prob need a special 360, but if you had a steady presence on xbl they could keep not only cheating at bay but stupid kids, and ignorant a-holes under control as well.

and yes i know they do monitor it now but im talking about much more constant

Here is my opinion about this.

So you can’t compare PC games to Console games period so you dumb asses out their knock it off.

In my opinion this would stop the cheating by far.
-Stop standby and stop host powers
-stop modders from getting host to spawn kill
-If Xbox 360 ever got modded a patch could released for the game and dedicated servers would recognized the mod off the bat and kick them before their even in the game.(Note this a dedicated server thus it will be much faster to notice someone modding since it only scans people joining the server. Unlike Bungie system that scans everyone in the world every time they join matchmaking thus 6 hr wait for banning.)

The reason I say don’t compare PC games to console game is huge difference in their environments. Pc world you have ability to make software thus huge source on how to make hacks for games spreads and cheaters spread. Console world you don’t have that option.

So for the LAST TIME NOOBS stop comparing PC world to console that simple dumb ass people.

Not only that but it would also fix the hosts slow upload so everybody doesn't have to lag because the host doesn't have enough upload.

the modding will never stop the more sucrity they put into it the better mods they get to get around the secturity but i got to hand it to bungie they are doing a good job

LoL!!! did you listen to your self.. really. Black hawk down had their own server and gave the option to user to host their own server. This did not give a monthly fee like MMO status nor did the game cost x3 what it was. Second thing just ebcause it's based in the USA doesn't mean their is a force field to blocks them from havign their own server in other countries. or other foriegn user hosting their servers in the NL or UK.

ded servers would certainly stop 99% of cheating.....but it waaay to impractical......if bungie did for some reason decide to hoest dedicated servers the cost for a game would likely triple or have a monthly fee. And lets not forget that Bungie is located strictly in the Southern USA......maaaaany people play this game out of the country or even in the northern USA would have horrible connections. So no matter how nice it may sound,,,,,,its neva gonna happen lol

in my opinion if people are gonna cheat let them, keep live the way its is and before you get down on me i'll say i get pisd every time the screen turns off and i turn back on dead, i get pissed with people who never seem to take damage, or always seem to flinch/ glitch if i get an aim on them. However one by one there gettin what they deserve and to be honest who doesnt love the WHAAAAMMBULANCE i do, and it makes me feel good that every time they get caught they have to buy a brand new live account was it worth it? I don't think so.
