The mods are only human, and with pretty vague rules, they are going to interpret them slightly differently from time to time.

Furious George: The new -blam!-

I wish all Bungie.net users were more consistent. Some of you say we're too strict, others say we're not strict enough. Some people prefer the grey area rules where we can use our judgement, others want the black and white uber-specific list. Some of you want smooth pudding, others want lumpy pudding.

I'm so lost and confused.

But I wanted pudding with just one small lump.

Put your banana hammock back on and finish cleaning my pool. Honestly, Mexicans make the worst pool boys. And then they get ideas! Ideas! Running off to study psychology instead of continuing the proud family business of maintaining my pool in a fit state for me to luxuriate in.

You, sir, should be ashamed of yourself. Ashamed.

I'm fine with the rules as they are. I've never been banned/warned, so I might have some bias in this, but I think the mods do a pretty good job. The fact that there are several different mods posting in this thread show that they are watching, which is after all their job.

I'm glad the rules are grey: human nature is grey, life is grey. NOTHING is black and white, and a rule system so specific it fails to apply to any real-life (grey) situation would be useless. Every thread and every reply is different. The same words have different meanings to different people, mods included. What might be fine with you could be edgy to someone else, and completely offensive to another, even though they are reading the same words.

The mods respond in they way they think is best (at least I hope so). They were hand picked to do the job they're doing, and I'm not going to question that. Are the mods perfect? Hell no. Could they be more consistent? Yeah. They're volunteers, doing what they can, and that's all we can really ask of them.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

I suspect that when members are more consistent, the moderators will be more consistent too.

Or is that an unrealistic expectation?

Cry Havoc And Let Slip The Dogs Of War.

Maybe worth a warning but not a ban...I dunno thats just how I feel on it.

While I do agree it would be nice if all the ninjas were one person, I do feel posting "report and move on" should be a bannable offense.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

Moderators should just be let off their leashes, just given the go to ban for entirely by their own preferences regardless of rules. A mod doesn't like the fact that you used the wrong "your/you're", bam, banned.

Honestly I think the moderation staff does a decent job staying in a relative target zone of being consistent. And I'm all for banning anyone who replies to a spam or similar thread deserves a ban. It's like encouraging a misbehaving child.

I wonder how things would be if this happened.

Are mods assigned to a forum or do they all just take whatever is reported?

I've never had an issue with inconsistencies in moderation. Sure there are threads and users that might break the rules and stay under the radar; but it's not due to the mods not being consistent. For being volunteers, they due a pretty damn good job.

This coming from a guy who is, thanks to many bans, very familiar with the rules.

More than likely unrealistic but it would obviously be ideal and seems pretty damn fair.

And then run as fast as you can, as soon as you round the corner.
